It wouldn’t matter. He’s a winner because he’s incapable of giving 100%. When we gypped him on paying out his option year he said he’d come out of retirement and keep playing. For a bloke who proved he could play busted do you doubt him?

What? Anyone with half a brain would do the same thing for $700K. That doesn't disprove his earlier poor leadership. Which was poor.
It was incapable of being poor due to his character and stature in the game. Footy players are dopes with big egos. They are very picky about whom they look up to. Watmough not wanting a bar of them away from footy would have only added to his aura.
Or just as likely the merkins might think “who does this prick think he is not wanting to hang out with legends like us”.
They probably thought that too. But he was the one who'd won two premierships and played 14 Origins, not them.
You're judging his character from the time he was at Manly, where he was happy. Then he came to our club and didn't buy in and just did the minimum required, despite being on big bucks. That's a poor attitude and it rubs off. I'd say the club expected better from him but just like Foran they misjudged his character.
Happiness isn't a requirement for leadership either.
No but just doing the minimum required because you're not happy affects your leadership negatively.
