Imagine if we do end up singing him for 700K/4Y and in 6 games he blows his knee apart and ends up needing a payout, career done, we're on the hook.

The media would be all over it "how could they sign an injury case to a 4 year deal? I can't believe they rushed into it. Something has to be done"

If we are so worried about his knee, why sign him at all? I think the knee talk is not the full story. I think it's more about BA.

There was an article I think by Dr Gibbs, that stated a player is at a lot higher risk of doing a knee, once he’s had 2 knee recos (over the 1 reco). If there’s medical evidence of this, then I’m happy the club is taking it into consideration.

Look injuries happen. Sure he could get injured again and we lose him for a while. But he is also the type of player that will work very hard to get back on the field. Yes I know he wasn't at his best last year after his comeback, but how much of that was his own form and how much of it was the lack of opportunities playing behind a team of wooden spoon calibre?

Look $650K is a lot of money, but it is also a very reasonable amount for a player like Guth and all that he brings. Hell we have Jennings on around $800K at the moment and we are still doing ok. My point is, it is his workload and not his speed that makes him the player he is, so I can't see him giving up that attitude and ethic even if he were to get injured again. So even if that were to happen, as long as the team is strong around him and not a spoon contender again, then his comeback from injury should not be like the last one, therefore worth the risk.

We need to sort this out quick. Even if we got him for 3 years at $650K instead of 4 years, how happy would that make him feel that the club that he will bleed for and lead for those next 3 years and he has hopefully grown to love, have played such hardball with him? These next 4 or 5 yeas are his best years now and he was hardly on huge bucks when he got here, so he needs to make sure that he can set himself up for the rest of his life right now. I don't think that he is being unreasonable at all.

The club would not be losing its power by giving him this deal. Gutho and Moses are the two players that are irreplaceable right now. As long as the deal is a reasonable one management should get it done. Stop being to cute before their player managers pull down your pants.

Look, $650 is a reasonable amount to pay for Gutho, we agree, but what I don't agree is that we should pay overs.

Look, we should sign players on our terms not Ayoub's terms.

I don't think we need to sort it out quick as there is no one else chasing after him, Dessie said they have no money under the cap, they cant sign anyone.

Methinks you may be stressing for no reason.

Netflix and chill.

Is that the Dr Gibbs who played for Parra?

At what point though does the risk start to diminish? If the risk is significant enough for the club to wait, why offer 3 years. Why not wait until end of season and see if he makes it through? (Of course that's not going to happen, but my point is that holding off now is not going to make any difference to the risk of reinjury)

It doesn't diminish. Simple. And we aren't holding off. Parramatta have made the offer. Gutho is the one who's holding off - maybe its due to the unsigned coach, who's also managed by Ayoub

Your point stands though. We’ve made our offer. Gutherson is holding out. And just because his mate is managed by someone else doesn’t mean Gutherson isn’t holding out to try and help him. It seems like something he would do.

If Walker gets charged with assault he’ll get the sack and they will have a war chest to throw at Gutho.

Sorry if already posted. Article says we're holding out because we're looking at putting in a serious offer for Latrell. It's from Buzz though.

Buzz is an idiot.

Why would we be holding out on signing a player for 20, 21 and 22 (the offer to Gutho as it stands) to make an offer for 21 onwards to someone else?

We've already offered Gutho two of those years, it's not relevant.

Bit of guesswork maths from Buzz I’d say. I’d guess Gutho is first option. If that fails, or even if he resigns, then Latrell becomes more of option
