If we lose against the Cowboys he should do the honourable thing

Unless you picked us for a top 4 spot at the start of the season, a look at our draw before Round 1 would show that our second half of the season was going to be tougher than the first. Personally I am disgusted at the performances we have put in since the Raiders game, but despite the scorelines, I have not been surprised by who got the 2 points.

I think it's not so much the losses themselves, but the manner in which we lost - getting belted by Souths, the Roosters, and Manly isn't acceptable, despite how good those teams are.

It's one thing to lose, it's another to lose in the fashion we have recently. Many teams below us don't play well, or gave gun players, but they do show some fight and have the ability to defend basic plays and even put on some attacking moves.

If we had lost the last few games showing some fight, but were outclassed then the argument about the quality of the roster would hold more weight.

There are serious attitude issues plainly visible, and to me that is in the domain of the coach to fix.
Agreed, but it's not the sole domain of the coach. There are leaders among every group of players (or should be). This is why the best teams have a core of senior players with a lot of experience, especially in big games.

I’ve turned the corner again on keeping BA with the proviso that it’s not the players who are disliking him and that one of the coaches currently above us on ladder doesn’t magically become available (except maybe Chinry). He’s then got an off-season to fix this shit but would also need to practically win premiership and even then we should be interviewing new replacements.

Then again f**k it and rip the bandaid off.

Either way I’d go a little leftfield with our attack. If our strength is the power game up the middle, just lean in into. Everyone, props, edges, wingers, Gutho all attack up the middle third and nothing but. No slow motion, single option block plays, just forwards hitting it up with short pass options. Even kicks to be in the middle third. The only players allowed to attack outside that are Moses, Drown, Blake and whoever the other winger is

My issue with keeping Brad is that we cannot attract good talent on the market until this shit is sorted.

I think it's time for change, but I wouldn't be hasty and unprofessional about it. Let Arthur finish up 2022 and sort out a new coach for 2023 but employ him straight away to help with recruitment/retention.

That’s an untenable situation for BA in 2022. He’s not at caretaker level.

Can you imagine the effort put in by this group knowing he is gone in 2023? It wouldn't surprise me if we had a few 100+ score lines put on us over the 2022 season, especially with these new rules. We would go down with the most unenviable and humiliating record in NRL history.

It would take a decade if that to ever recover. I for one would resign myself to be done as an active supporter of this club. Surely we couldn't go into 2022 with a plan like that. Surely not?

Shut up merkin. You'd still be watching every game and whinging on here every f**king week. Don't pretend you wouldn't still at least be providing eyeballs for TV viewership dollars.

In the post game interview on Fox the other night, Tommy T was asked by Ennis (I think) whether given Des's strength in defence coaching, he (Tommy), DCE and I think he said Foran, were responsible for planning and training in the attacking structures. Turbo laughed it off and mentioned the assistants but I think it was interesting that a former FG player such as Ennis would allude to the fact that the senior players have a lot of say in how a team actually plays the game.

Wonder if our senior players have the same inputs.

Accepting losses is part of the game. But it’s the manner in which we’re losing. There’s holes everywhere in our defense and we’re looking like a rabble. That is what I can’t cop.

I've worked under some great leaders and a common trait was giving their people ownership of the plan.

If the club wanted a top tier coach why would they re-sign Arthur at a discount? The fact he is on less proves he knows he's not a top coach, and the club knows it too. Why would they suddenly decide they need the best when there's no guarantee it would lead to a premiership?

Trouble is, Flannagan is available now (and so is Green - although I don't rate him). Who would be available in 2023?
