Apparently Jake was amazing in the Junior Rep Teams.

I watched a lot of the private schools games and JA was pretty much the best player on the ground in the final with a nice long distance try too, he has some pace compared to those who are his own age

however, I reckon that probably over 90% of those players will never play at NRL level

I think a ball kicked dead in goal from inside your own 40 should be a play the ball to the opposition from their try line.
Reason: it would create space along the defensive line as the d would need to have more defenders back. It would also promote kickers trying to find space again getting away from these kicks deliberately down the fullback s throat.

Not bad, but that is way to easy a kick for the long distance kickers and they would almost always be able to kick it.

What would be better would be a kick from inside your own 10m going dead in the oppositions in goal you get the ball back at the oppositions 20m line like you would a 40-20. Now that would send shivers down a few coaches backs and it wouldn't be the easiest kick to get. It would need real skill.

That way teams would have to be mindful of such a kick and maybe not be so committed and compressed when defending against a team trying to get out of their end.

Actually I like this idea and would like to see it trialed and see how it would pan out and all its consequences. It would be very interesting.

I reckon a kick from inside your own 10 metres before the 5th, that you get back cleanly inside the opposition 40 should be play on, tackle count restart.

Give the speedsters something to chase and a reward for pure speed.

Also has merit. Good one.

Wait, do you mean catch on the full?

We can’t afford to lose Moses. Especially knowing who the back up half is.

I, for one, and becoming less, and less sure of that.

We had 24 tackles in the opposition 20m zone after 30 minutes last night - Moses created nothing.

And that issue has been prevalent for a few years now.

Against the Tigers, he could have iced the game - and he missed the field goal.

He has shelved his running game for some reason (which has always been his biggest asset). Maybe it's Arthur's plan, but as one-dimensional as he is as a coach, surely he's not that daft...

He's not exactly reliable under pressure.

I, for one, would not be too upset if he left because he thinks he's worth $1 million per year, because he simply isn't playing like a player who deserves $1 million per year.

His replacement cannot be Jake, as Jake has no business in First Grade currently - but Moses needs to step up.

f**k imagine if we lost Moses to have Jake step into half 😂 2012-2013 all over again

I suspect one is being looked at as a depth player (Masters) the other as a starter (farnworth)….don’t you?
No idea but Masters very much a rocks and diamonds player, much like our defence atm, and we only need good consistent players. Until we get them our team performance will be similar to tonight's result.

Parramatta have six months to usher Mitchell Moses into the million-dollar club or risk their star half heading to the open market.

News Corp understands that there is every chance Moses will explore his options if his representatives and the club fail to reach agreement on an extension in coming months.

The Eels, having only just put contract negotiations with some of their biggest names in the rear view mirror, have no time to rest.

Moses aside, they have a six-month window to extend the deals of Moses, Will Penisini, Nathan Brown, Dylan Brown, Jake Arthur, Bryce Cartwright and Shaun Lane.

All would have no trouble finding a home elsewhere on the open market.

Moses, however, shapes as the most daunting prospect for the Eels as they cast their gaze towards November 1 as he eyes a six figure pay rise.

The Eels superstar has an option in his contract for the 2024 season but he is unlikely to take that up unless there is a million-dollar commitment down the track given he is now regarded among the elite No. 7s in the game.

Daly Cherry-Evans has been a member of the million-dollar club for some time.

Nathan Cleary is well and truly in that wage bracket. So too Ben Hunt, who is coming to the end of a lucrative deal that has paid him seven figures for some time.

It’s an elite field but Moses doesn’t look out of place. His future shapes as one of the big talking points as clock ticks down to November 1, when more than 150 players worth more than $50 million will enter the final year of their current deals, making them free to sign deals with rival clubs.

Moses has a handful of teammates who the club would be keen to extend. Dylan Brown has rediscovered his best touch. Brown will earn $800,000 in his final year. The Eels have already opened negotiations with centre Penisini, who is regarded as one of the best young players in the game and can double his $250,000 salary.

Jake Arthur, son of Parramatta coach Brad, has already been offered to the Melbourne Storm and his future at the Eels may hinge on whether the club is able to reach new deals with Brown and Moses.
