Is it fair to say that about half the Dolphins' squad are back flippers?
I agree but every time we've gone after a Premiership in the last 25 years, it's been a disaster.I seriously believe the people in charge couldn't give a shit if we win a GF, as long as we are competitive and they sell enough memberships to a loyal fanbase that makes the club profitable. They are not willing to do what it takes to get us to the next level. Otherwise a bum like Murphy would not be here.
Were Smith’s games at hooker as good as Stone’s versus Knights?Yeah. Smiths games at hooker were almost as bad as stone’s in that semi…. Almost
Yes he has!has he played like a 770k player this season? His form has been questionable.
Not a bad starting pack:
8. Kaufusi
9. Mahoney
10. Matterson
11. Niukore
12. Papalii
13. Stone
Or another way to look at it is to start by making sure that you are always competitive and build from there. You don't win many premierships if you are not regularly competitive. Do you really think that the 'people in charge' don't care whether we win a premiership or not? Granted, they may not think that it is the only thing that matters, but the idea that they don't care whether we win or not defies logic.....do you reckon that overseeing a premiership winning club wouldn't help their own worth on the labour market?
The best thing about winning a premiership would be to see what you lot would find to whinge about. I guess it would then be that the club put all their chips into winning in year X and didn't set us up for a 35 year dynasty.
So we gave overs to the ones we kept but refused to make reasonable offers to the ones who left? Is that your logic? No we caved and gave them overs,
To be honest, it's not a bad idea. Roosters don't seem to win every year but they are around til the end. It's more that they don't seem to care enough. As long as we are there abouts keeps the wolf from the door so to speak. If we happen to jag one along the way, 'you beaut', otherwise as long as the semis are a regular thing then most members and fans will keep turning up and no major drama or upheaval will transpire.
It’s more than the Tigers have won, and they signed premiership winner Maguire plus supercoach Cleary. Maybe they had the wrong idea about how to be successful, and coaching isn’t the answer?2 finals wins in 9 years is where it’s at mate, you should be happy with that and not expect anything else.
Lol. I wasn't having a crack at you or your post. Not sure what the point of your reply to my post really is. Let that one go straight through to the keeper.
At the end of the day being competitive with little or nothing to show for it means sweet FA
Not sure on Edwards form, but if he is still going ok, wouId be a pretty decent signing for a year to cover edge. He was always a threat on the edge.
and there is probably going to be more options available for 2024 with no new club coming in.
Apparent Gutho deal:
The Daily Telegraph reports Gutherson agreed to a $2.3 million extension, equating to around $770,000 a season.
gee that’s hardly an unreasonable contract for our captain and a pretty bloody good player!!
Pretty fair deal I reckon for eels!!
We definitely paid him overs. No wonder we moved heaven and earth to re-sign Rein.
Or did Gutherson buckle to our offer?yeah nah. I never said we shouldn’t of signed him.
we stood firm in negotiations with rheed and ice. we buckled in to gutho’s demands.
Or did we start with a low offer and up it until we arrived at a value that suited both parties? It’s called negotiation ffs. Or do you think we should’ve started by making our highest offer to every merkin?Fmd you are stupid. No offense. We made an offer and kept upping our offer till Gutho got what he wanted. That’s what buckling into their demands means.
We didn’t lose these players due to lack of cap space, we refused to match the valuation of desperate clubs.Gutho’s management absolutely raped us. Not sure one eels fan won’t admit that.
imagine had we signed him for a little less? Don’t think there was much interest in him tbh. Had we signed him for less, we wouldn’t be in this predicament. We may of had enough to sign one of the players that are leaving.
But keep defending.
Lack of demand would be good for his price.how many teams were chasing Hodgson?
He’s 34 next year so you’d hope he’s grown up. It’s a bit too old for a bloke who is neither a leader nor a decision maker in the spine.Watched him a bit over the last few years abroad and he has been playing very well - especially recently.
If he has grown up Id happily throw 200k at him on a year by year agreement.
