Was he even in charge of recruitment at those teams, let alone pathways? There seems to be this label that's come about very recently called 'development coach ' and I just think it's getting slapped on those who don't go on to challenge for titles. Or haven't as yet, in Ciraldo's case.
Yea it’s a bit of a wank to appease fans who want too see ‘local juniors’ promoted. Every club develops young players.

Eels turn to Brown

Former Warriors coach Nathan Brown is poised to turn his attention to fixing the broken junior pathways at Parramatta.

This column has highlighted the disconnect between the Eels’ senior ranks and what should be the strongest set of juniors behind Penrith. The Eels recognise this and are doing something about it.

Brown is said to have been in discussions about a short-term fix to get the club on the right path. He says it’s the sort of job he wants to do from now on, rather than coaching.

I thought this had been going on for years, ever since Peter Nolan and Anthony field were here.

The Sharks and Cowboys are pretty similar.

Chad doesn't have to be a flashy half back unlike with Moses at the Eels.

Chad has alot of players around him that can win games he just has to pass it to them and kick. His game is pretty simple that's the same as Moses but there is that expectation with Moses that it all begins and Ends with him.

Plus Shane Perry has a premiership as a halfback so Premiership don't mean much when comparing players
The goat Thurston played for 13 seasons with NQld and only managed the one comp. Even that game went down to the wire with the goat dropping a field goal for a golden point win. Just shows how hard it is to win a comp.

I think it's time for a shakeup of our backline. I think Penisini needs a go at left centre he doesn't touch the ball enough and he'll be able to set up Sivo a lot better than Waqa does. After watching Perham in reggies he needs to be in the team. Give him a go at right centre he's pace and footwork are impressive. Blake is also a far superior winger than center.
1. Gutho
2.Sivo
3.Penisini
4.Perham
5.Blake
Did you not watch Perham play on the wing earlier this season? Why do you think he’d make a better centre?

Did you watch him in reggies mate he was a freak? Playing right centre he scored 4 tries, ran for 163 metres, 6 tackle breaks and made 13 tackles and only missed 1.
I didn’t see the game but NRL centres tend to be just as big as wingers these days because of the defensive requirements of the position. If he was too small for the wing I wonder if he’d make it in the centres.
Because his lack of height and weak go forward would be less of a problem. Prior to coming to Parra he had played most of his first grade at centre.
Despite that narrative I would say that it’s even more rare for an NRL centre to be less than 6 ft compared to an NRL winger.

If he works on his passing from the ground over the off-season I reckon he'd make the perfect bench utility. Can cover 1-7 and fill in at hooker but I'm not sure he's good enough to be a regular first 13 player.

Remember you called Cleary Jeff Robson 2? Lucky your not in charge of our jnr pathways. We'd be f**ked.
It’s easy to quote me out of context for a laugh. At that time his game didn’t equal his hype and it was true. You have twisted that into me judging his potential, which is a bit cheeky.

Anyway, why are we talking about Penrith - again ?

There’s a very good chance that blokes like Field are good at the scouting side of things but not at the program management side that is required to best utilise staff like Field. Which isn’t to say that Nathan Brown is any good at it, but he is likely to be better than nobody, which is likely what we have dedicated to that task right now. If we’re hiring someone into the role it probably means those tasks are distributed among other members of the football department (e.g. O’Neil and the recruitment manager whose name escapes me). I suspect the people who are best at it are at the biggest clubs, and if they’re important to the outcomes of the NRL team then they would be very well paid.

The Tigers are also considering making an offer to Eels forward Nathan Brown to join the club. Brown was recently granted a release from his management company Ignite Sports, which is led by Joe and Johnathan Wehbe.

Brown, who returned to the NRL against the Tigers on Saturday night after a stint in reserve grade, is currently in discussions with other agents.

He will then sit down with the Tigers to discuss a potential return to the club.

Parramatta is unlikely to stand in his way. He has another year to run on his deal.
