Interesting observations.
Over the last few years we seem to have been focussed on developing forwards and forgetting about outside backs, however if you add Haze Dunster into the mix, we actually have been looking to bring some young outside backs through who might develop into something decent.

1. Simonnson
2. Sivo
3. Russell
4. Penisini
5. Dunster
6. Drown
7. Moses

Not a totally shoddy backline and definitely not the worst in the comp.
Add Cini and Perham to the list and there is good combination of skill and youth in that.
Fenning/Komolafe could potentially be in the mix after an offseason too…..

Shane Perry has won more premierships than Moses. Saying player X is better than player Y just because they won a premiership is over simplistic. Townsend was hooked from the field during the finals when the Sharks won the premiership. Make no mistake, Maloney was the general behind that Sharks premiership. Why would a struggling side like the Warriors not be wanting to pay decent coin for a leader? Do they not need one?
They have Harris and AFB, plus Johnson is a better player (and also expensive) who also brings a lot of experience if not the same level of leadership. Also to the last point, while not proof of anything (due to sample size) but Shaun Johnson captained Cronulla twice while I don’t think Townsend ever did. The main point though is that in a market where Townsend can get big money, It’s difficult to sign him and Johnson at the same time. The Warriors made their choice.

Simonnson is a fringe NRL starting player at best, and nowhere near deserving of being an NRL Fullback. EVER

Personally, I'm a huge fan of Penisini's, but he could use a stint in NSW Cup not as punishment, but as a way to help him develop his game further, and give him some confidence.

He's not even 20 years old yet, and he's playing at a high level against seasoned players.

I believe Russell will be our long-term fullback.

Perham makes a handy centre, though his defence is questionable sometimes.

Penisini is a strike weapon. He stays in NRL. Only way he develops further.
I'd be moving Blake to the wing and dropping Simmonson. Then you have two powerfull wingers. That leaves me with two options. Russel to fullback and Gutherson to centre or Opacic to centre and Guth remains where is.

Fair enough but I reckon we are better off concentrating on our youth like Rodwell and they can complement the old blokes in the pack. You might have heard our new hooker is in his early 60's as well.

We do lose Papali,Kafusi and Marata. Likely N.Brown is also moved on and Makatoa doesn't inspire me. Potentialy we have 5 spots to fill in our 17.
Rodwell I think is in the NRL to stay. Greig and Ogden might be handy. But are they genuin top 17 players?
I feel we need atleast one genuine NRL level forward added.
We do have Hopgood and the Knights guy so two guys who will probably make the 17. But still 5 guys gone.

Happy with that.

Opacic needs to be in the team.

How did an average first grade winger like Simonson get a 3 year deal???

He is no better then Dunster or Russel tbh. So considering both where available prior to signing him I feel BA or whoever did sign him rated him far better then he is. I doubt he cost a heap and does ok so handy back up.

I have heard some good things about Fenning. Interesting that Hollis has gone from NSW CUP to Jersey flegg and now dropped to the bench in Flegg with big Larry and some guy called Maulla starting. You'd imagine he won't ever play NRL. Gone backwards big time.

Not sure about Naiduki or Komolafe. Neither impressed me.
Cini would be a suprise packet. A real goer and aggressive. Odd he isn't considered

I've got quite a few memories of us dominating field position, and Moses coming up empty with his kicks...

Even last night, when we were 20m out, he came out with some inexplicably bad kicks.
Ever player has bad kicks in them . Not every player can lead the NRL with kick try assists.

Eels turn to Brown

Former Warriors coach Nathan Brown is poised to turn his attention to fixing the broken junior pathways at Parramatta.

This column has highlighted the disconnect between the Eels’ senior ranks and what should be the strongest set of juniors behind Penrith. The Eels recognise this and are doing something about it.

Brown is said to have been in discussions about a short-term fix to get the club on the right path. He says it’s the sort of job he wants to do from now on, rather than coaching.

The players coming through the Knights and Warriors don’t seem to be setting the world on fire. They were his last gigs.
Was he even in charge of recruitment at those teams, let alone pathways? There seems to be this label that's come about very recently called 'development coach ' and I just think it's getting slapped on those who don't go on to challenge for titles. Or haven't as yet, in Ciraldo's case.

I think it's time for a shakeup of our backline. I think Penisini needs a go at left centre he doesn't touch the ball enough and he'll be able to set up Sivo a lot better than Waqa does. After watching Perham in reggies he needs to be in the team. Give him a go at right centre he's pace and footwork are impressive. Blake is also a far superior winger than center.
1. Gutho
2.Sivo
3.Penisini
4.Perham
5.Blake
