It’s easy to quote me out of context for a laugh. At that time his game didn’t equal his hype and it was true. You have twisted that into me judging his potential, which is a bit cheeky.

Anyway, why are we talking about Penrith - again ?

You went on and on while I stated I saw him being the best half since Johns. It just shows some people know how to spot talent and some don't. And it is the same with NRL clubs. Some people just are better at it then others.
@TheRam is very good at seeing potential in players. And why I read his posts carefully. You can learn a lot from what he has to say.
We both know what skills set is needed for success.

Parramatta has started contract negotiations that could lead to gun halfback Mitch Moses being signed to the Eels for the rest of his NRL career.
Moses, who turns 28 in September, is under contract for 2023 and is expected to take up an option in his favour for 2024.

Discussions have now started for a new deal which could span a further three seasons – a deal which would see the brilliant halfback locked away until the end of 2027.

The overall deal would be worth more than $5m.

Moses would be aged 33 after the 2027 season. He may opt to continue for another year or decide to retire from the NRL.

While his contract value would be kept confidential, Moses could command around $1m to $1.2m a season on the open market.

Well-placed sources claim the Dolphins have made a gentle inquiry about Moses’ contract situation but no offer was lodged.

Contract talks between Moses and Parramatta are preliminary and both parties have considerable work to complete before any deal can be finalised.

There is a feeling that Moses and Parramatta are seeking the same outcome. The club has a strong relationship with Moses and his family.

Moses is known to be happy and content in a Parramatta side charging towards another top four finish. He recently bought a property in Sydney’s inner-west.

Parramatta declined to comment on Moses’ contract negotiations.

While Parramatta has lost Reed Mahoney (Bulldogs), Isaiah Papali’i (Wests Tigers), Marata Niukore (Warriors) and Ray Stone (Dolphins), Moses is said to be comforted that Clint Gutherson, Reagan Campbell-Gillard, Junior Paulo and Ryan Matterson have all signed long-term.

And Parramatta is also hopeful young five-eighth Dylan Brown, off contract after next season, will also re-sign before November 1. Brown and family are entrenched living in Sydney’s west.

Talks between Parramatta management and Brown have begun over a significant contract extension.

Moses, Brown and Gutherson would make up three-quarters of Parramatta’s spine long-term.

The Eels are also hopeful barnstorming Fijian winger Maika Sivo can be retained. There had been reports that European rugby union may be interested in Sivo.

Eels turn to Brown

Former Warriors coach Nathan Brown is poised to turn his attention to fixing the broken junior pathways at Parramatta.

This column has highlighted the disconnect between the Eels’ senior ranks and what should be the strongest set of juniors behind Penrith. The Eels recognise this and are doing something about it.

Brown is said to have been in discussions about a short-term fix to get the club on the right path. He says it’s the sort of job he wants to do from now on, rather than coaching.

Not a fan of the short term fix...

If they are going to fix it go in 100% for the long haul.

I didn’t see the game but NRL centres tend to be just as big as wingers these days because of the defensive requirements of the position.
Edge defence requires a lot more than just size to the point where size is one of the last considerations of a defender in the two or three positions. These guys need lateral movement more than any other quality. In fact size is generally antithetical to lateral movement. It’s why there are so few giant centres any more. Meanwhile wingers can get away with being bigger because they are required to make a lot of hit ups, plus in defence they just jam in rather than having to move laterally in response to an overlap. The biggest outside backs are all wingers these days. There are several over 105kg. Centres are either short or lean, because they need more defensive agility than lumbering wingers.

He seems like the most genuine bloke in the entire NRL.
From what I know and have heard from a few bloke's that have dealt with him, he's a f**king great fella, probably too good a bloke to be the hard arse it takes to be a successful premiership winning NRL coach. But definitely has a rugby league brain and insights. I think junior pathways might be his niche. hope so anyway...
