Rumours and Stuff

This time last year or maybe it was a few game after this time last year - I had all but given up on the season, we looked cooked then. Then we beat Melbourne. I am hoping we can pull something like that again.

If we do end up being competitive, I would say our biggest issue would be beating sides like Cowboys or Brisbane who are playing amazing football at the moment.
The Cowboys may be regressing. They escaped from jail in the games against Manly and the Tigers and were beaten comprehensively without their origin players by the Sharks. They also had a bye in the last month so it’s hard to get a read on their form but it’s not amazing atm.

When BA started we were close to a million dollar handicapped due to sticky’s overhead projector sackings that left us paying for players running around for other clubs.

he then had Hayne, our best player, walk out in an offseason with no time to replace him

then the salary cap escapade

whilst I do think we need a change and new voice leading the team, BA has had far from a smooth tenure through none of his own doing.
2015 allaned by Hayne
2016 allaned by the salary cap.
2017 allaned by Melbourne
2018 allaned by coming last. Maybe Hayne again.
2019 allaned by the Storm again
2020 allaned by the Storm again.
2021 allaned by Covid-19 and a Penrith trainer.
Really it's his first year.

We've been very unlucky. With a bit of luck we have 5 or 6 premierships. Just bad luck

Putting the emotion aside, BA took over the club when we stunk like the proverbial bucket of prawns in the sun. The 9 years thing is spin. He has re-built the club and got us to a point where we all dreamed and never thought possible.

Now we are back where we belong, we want to go to the next level. Is he the guy to take us there ? Well of late it looks like the answer is no. So let's slow down and do this professionally and in a way that protects our brand and sponsors. If Uncle Nick wanted a new coach, he would not sack now and hope for the best. He would head hunt a coach and have him lined up before he pulls the trigger.

Why are you guys so vehemently against this process ?
We arent. We just know that it should have already started but have zero confidence that it has or will.

Are you f**king serious. Who here dreamed week 2 of the finals was never possible over 9yrs?
I wanted a minor premiership and title. And believe that was possible
We've done f**k all in almost 10yrs. He come in 2014 when the squad was on the up. Similar to say Ciraldo and the Dogs.
Ricky come in right at a hot mess. So did SK.
Then 2016 happened……

It's in the 'stuff' category. It's topical and very exciting because just like our second week Finals loss in 2021 felt different so does this current situation with BA. The feel I get is that his days are numbered and the speculation is very interesting. I don't know about the others but I keep coming here to hopefully finally read that he has been officially sacked.
Bring back The Leaks!

South Sydney did it in 03,04 and 06 (although Kitinas was a caretaker coach. Even Penrith came close by getting it in 2001, 2007 and 2012 (finished 15th). Sometimes you can have sufficient resources but you get poor results due to poor decision making.
South’s wasn’t a big club in 03, 04 and 06, it was a basket case until Crowe took over ……

1. Who is we ?
2. You "know" based on what ? That the board have tapped one assistant coach on the shoulder already. That they brought in Woolford to coach 20's. That they brought in Ennis & Mary. That they employed Nathan Brown to run pathways ? What gives you zero confidence that the board / MON are not all over this ?

History repeats and I see plenty of similarities to 2006 although we haven’t announced a new coach for next year like we did back then.

I can’t see BA quitting like Brian Smith did but the feeling amongst the squad in 2006 may be similar to what we are experiencing now. Both squads came from relatively successful year and expectation was high. Both squads had their coach for close to a decade and it appeared that the lemon had been squeezed completely. BA is like a poor man’s Brian Smith although I suspect he is more stubborn and we may have to sack him because I can’t see him walking.

it’s important to note that despite being told he was not being extended Smithy quit as he was confident of getting a gig elsewhere. BA will have the comfort of a payout and I’m sure he will get a gig elsewhere.
Smith never quit after being told he wasn’t being extended. He started 2006 knowing he wasn’t being there in 2006. He quit after the season had became a shit show ….coming almost last, Riddell / Smith on the piss instead of training…..etc etc

Unsure what people are sticking up for BA for. He has the rest of the season. If we get to week 3 I am sure he continues his job. If we keep spiralling with a side many picked as a top 4 side then he gets the boot.
It's simple.

We all ❤️ the Eels. We all and I think ALL want the best. We want to be successful. Win a comp every 10-15 years, have a great junior nursery with 2-3 jnrs going into the top 30 every year.
We want to arrest problems quickly.
I am all for differing opinions.
(As long as they are right 😁)

Ok so their continued endorsement of BA is BS. One can only hope.

I still remember before 2018 pre-season, we had the fans day and BA got on stage and promised a Premiership. haha he learnt a lesson that season.
