Munster isn’t a 22 young bloke who hasn’t really achieved anything in the game. He’s done everything in the game and is after one last pay day. Newly married with a kid after spending almost a decade of being a mad merkin he’s priorities have changed. Brown still owes this club plenty as far as I’m concerned and you’d think he be happy to stay at his junior club with SuperCoach Brad??? Maybe being continually shunted for Giraffe boy might be playing a part???
do you think that they could fill up the son with pies and doughnuts and play him on the edge like our other tall one

"Continually shunted" might be a little bit of an exaggeration you think?

Well every time the 7 min kid is on the field he seems to be pushed wider so Jakey can do his thing. What a glorious sight it was Friday night, proving what a disgrace it is that he’s anywhere near first grade and the only back up half in the squad. If the people running the club aren’t wanting answers they have no business running the club.

I dare say most 22-year olds would prefer a deal of $1 million per season, over $800,000; loyalty is to their wallets, and their families.

This notion that players should be loyal to the club is antiquated, and a little redundant, imo - if his form dropped, or he suffered a long-term injury, the club wouldn't think twice about replacing him.

Why should he forgo a chance at big money to please the fans?
Few people lambasting the club for not resigning him sooner are also people who would’ve happily cut him last season

Just goes to show the duality of loyalty, I suppose - fans expect players to be loyal, but many fans would happily criticise a player of their own club...

I recall some of the comments made about Dylan last year - fast forward 12 months, and he is a must-sign, and no price is too big.

I'd probably offer him a million dollars, because at 22 years of age, it's scary how much improvement he still has left in his game.

And then you have to find cap space to afford paying him that, thus you end up with Jrthur as your backup half and Makatoa on your bench. There’s a heap of moving parts when it comes to signing one player

Not sure. How do Penrith get it done? Looks at all their kids. We've produced bugger all and flat out keeping them.

I could understand if we had 15 juniors in our side and lost a few. We have barely any. And from what I've been told dont expect of any quality anything untill about 2025.

Better resources, proven winners (eg: they're guaranteed to make it past week 2 of the Finals every few weeks).

And they do lose players - they've lost Kikau, Burton, and Crichton in recent times.

Yes. If he plans to go open market its cause he isn't that invested in the club and wants to take them for every last dam cent. That's a culture issue.
A junior who loves the club will accept what is seen a fair deal. Of course the Dolphins will pay him more. So if this is what he is about then we must look at the type of culture we've built at the club.
Or the types of players we recruit and retain. Penrith put a lot of value in a player’s motivations for whether they keep them. If they’re just in it for the money they let them walk. We should too.

It's probably an easier decision to let them walk when you've got a relative production line of players ready to take their place. We don't have that luxury I'm afraid so we might have to go the extra mile to keep the ones we need to...

Give Nathan Brown a few years, and I'm sure we will be fine.

I remember when he had talented youngsters coming out through the grades.

We will get there again - just a matter of when.

And just because a junior doesn't have big plaudits attached to their name, doesn't mean they won't do a good job - Haze Dunster hardly attracted much attention, but he is a very reliable First Grader.

We've got some players that I think will be First Graders in the future in Mataele, Lui, LeBron, etc.

Plus add in players like Hands, Yates, Russell, etc. - we aren't doing too poorly.

But with the exception of one, we do little to develop players into the NRL. Our plan appears to be lets flog our best 13/14/15 and unless one of them breaks we then rinse and repeat. I figured after the hooker situation last year and the impending loss of so many forwards at seasons end, that a big effort would happen to develop replacements. What we got was nothing. I believe its a huge failing at our club. How can this develop a one club mentality. The situation re not having a suitable back up half is diabolical. Why wasnt Perham even tried as a 5/8 in the 2s? He looked to be a natural for the position with his skills. I reckon players loose heart when they realise effort results in being ignored. This is a massive reason why I reckon change is needed and not in the form of failed and sacked assistants from elsewhere if BA is to stay. Why not a Siebold, or a Josh Hannay, or a John Morris or a Peter Wallace as assistants? Rant over. 😁

Why are you so obsessed with JA ?

He's been replacing Rheed also which has no effect on where Dylbags plays
Mahoney has needed a spell and a breather for a while now. We should have had someone there like Will Smith or recruited someone in the window period. We did nothing. So what does Arthur do? Put his son there. It’s a f**king disgrace that he is anywhere in the 17 let alone coming on as a dummy half.

no argument from me regarding JA, however, it's irrelevant as it has nothing to do with affecting Dylbag's game
