Apparently, Bateman has signed offically and will be announced very soon. I reckon we should make a play for Blore and offer Nathan Brown. Blore is a very solid player and he's only 22 years old. Plenty of potential and I reckon BA would get the best out of him. At worse he provides competition for Doorey and comes off the bench. It's definitely worth a look at imo.

Actually I'm surprised the increase is for 2023 given clubs will have most of their rosters and especially most of their stars already contracted for 2023. This will actually be a massive benefit to clubs looking at retaining players, for that exact reason. If they haven't already committed the increased 2023 cap through ratchet clauses then they have all that extra space to frontload contract extensions. Maybe we'll keep Moses and Penisini after all.

Maybe these clubs that have their rosters for the most part settled were relying on this increase being the outcome and or re-signed a lot of guys with ratchet clauses circumventing somewhat the need to wait for the actual number to be announced.

But yeah it would be a bonus for clubs that have to date worked within the constraints of the known, and still have spots to fill and merkins to re-sign who are off contract.
