When is the last time we attracted a marquee player to the club - Foran in 2016? We don’t even seem to bother anymore.

Embarrassing when you consider that Souths have managed to attract 3 of the biggest names to the club - Inglis, Latrell and Wighton. We seem to always have too much money tied up when superstar players become available.

I’d say it’s more that, whatever Souths are offering, a club like Parra (or Canberra) would have to at least match it entirely inside the cap. This is why a handful of clubs are in or around the top four nearly every year. It’s not that the other ten clubs are ‘poorly run’. They just don’t have the same advantages as the top clubs. And by advantages I mean resources.

you would go to any lengths to justify any mistake by the club or coach, wouldn’t you?

It’s clear we need Hodgson to agree to forgo his second year, and we need to let basically everyone go that is off like Waqa etc and have a mini-rebuild.

It's been mentioned thaytiys how it will be structured. We have money this year and if we are not likely to make the 8 or we don't sign anyone new, we pay that money to him this year and then in subsequent years, he'll be less on the cap.

Its very smart tbh to wait and restructure his deal. Alternatively, if we do go after some big names for next year as this year goes crap, we can backend his deal.
