Are the dogs still close to a premiership.

They look as far away as ever to me.

If ciraldo doesn't turn the ship around he will under immense pressure then what. He was supposedly the next gun super coach.

Gus doesn't have the nursery at belmore he had at Penrith. Plus the Dogs are so far gone with there losing culture then Penrith ever were. There marquee recruits have dropped there standards down.

They seem like a richer version of the Tigers atm.

The problem with the Dogs are/is they don't have players that want to work hard they pick up all these flashy individual players but don't want to do the dirty/hard work in the offseason and at training.

I see Karl Oloapu is now playing Flegg after he bitched it at the Broncos and wanted to be handed a first grade spot. Yes they probably are stacking their Flegg team to have a shit at the title. But he is another player that didn't want to do the hard work and make his way into the first grade side.

I love it something is clearly rotten over there. And it hope it stays in the joint.

There is too many leaks coming from disgruntled players or staff fed up with what's going on from both sides.

If the Bulldogs don't make finals next year they would have had a longer finals drought then our one between 2009-2017.

Next year brings up 2 decades since they won a competition

It is interesting that we had 11 players make thier Eels first Grade debut this year.

I wonder what that ranks compared to the other seasons..

Yep a smart club would snap him up now to play fullback long term

My preference would be to allocate the bottom 3 spots of the top 30 to minimum salary 'talent raids'. Look at the Panthers, Roosters, Storm and Broncos and offer a 130k x 3 year deal to the some of their better 18-20 year olds.
One could structure the deals with the 3rd year an option based on performance measures.

Those clubs also only have 30 top 30 spots, and the have to choose which talent they keep. Worst case, you get it wrong. I'd rather have our scouting department getting it wrong on 2 year deals (3rd option) for young guys than Zac Cinis and Murchies and Momo's.

There would still plenty of room in the squad for some journeymen and our own young guys.

Both would be backup players but better backup players than we have now.

The club will probably try to sign 1 first grade centre probably Billy Smith and then have Russell and Simmonson fight it out for the wing spot.

I like Billy Smith. Strong defender and runs nice lines.

But if he blew his knee out (again) early in the season I think the knife sharpening for BA would intensify....

On that note I've recently worked with dirt poor immigrants who see themself as middle class whilst renting a unit in the suburbs and no joke using the BBQ to keep the house warm. I feel like many middle class are probably unaware they are lower.
Those peeps are prolly dead from carbon monoxide poisoning.

Hahahahahahaha!! Imagine having a drought that long………
At least we do it properly when we have a premiership drought.

All these other clubs bar Canberra who are near us are softcocks who have resources and are able to win premierships every decade.

Where is the fun in that.

Sounds like workplace bullying to me, Gus.

Bulldogs coach Cameron Ciraldo is expected to face some difficult questions in his weekly media conference on Wednesday morning after it emerged that one of his players had taken time off for mental health reasons five weeks ago and hadn't returned after being forced to endure a brutal wrestling session as a 'punishment'.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that the player is a fringe first grader and was ordered to wrestle as many as a dozen of his teammates after training. The 'punishment' was ordered after the player turned up to the session late.

The Herald reports that the Bulldogs are still paying the player's contract but the club has so far chosen not to comment on the situation.
