I don’t really believe the whole wanting-to-play-centre thing. Centres aren’t more important than wingers, and haven’t been for over a decade.

Just a matter of interest, what quality players has the Banking and Accountancy Recruitment Committee actually bought to the club during their tenure? Am I right that Moses, RCG, Paulo, Matterson we're all signed by the previous setup?

To be fair, retentions are also the responsibility of that committee. If we already have a cap full of quality players and we choose to keep them, it limits the cap space available to recruit externally.

And don’t forget we have retained quality pathways graduates Penisini and Drown. Those two alone would be on at least 10% of the cap.

Surely Lomax signs with the Roosters if Manu and Sualili are both leaving?

Why would he choose Parra over the Roosters?

Potentially if he gets a shot to play fullback but then gutho has to move to centre. That might also be a reason why he would take less to play at parra. He was assured a legitimate shot at fullback when signed at the dragons 3 years ago but it never eventuated.

He has an underrated passing game, probably similar to Gutho.

I don't beleive players can be guaranteed a certain position.

So many other factors involved, like thier form and the form of those around them, sometimes being better than them.

Sometimes you just gotta suck it up, like if he came here on the premise to play FB but Gutho's form doesn't allow the move.

Yes, I think that could be the lure. Makes sense. If so, it will be interesting what we pay him. He is indeed a very good player at his best, but largely untested at fullback (although could prove very good there).

Although quite obvious:

Lomax has apparently agreed to terms which is why he was willing to walk away from his St George contract. Those media pricks who read these forums will more than likely write about it tomorrow. I'm hearing a 4 year deal, however I'm guessing with a final year option. Let's see how I go.

And no I'm not revealing my source and they are not from our club. However he is the same dude that gave me the exclusive many years ago about us signing Justin Poore which at the time I posted on the forums and was excited about.

Hope he turns out a better signing than that Slug Poore.

Is this the same guy that gave you the hot tip on Harper???

Any word on an early release this season?

My source didn't confirm but did allude to something similar.

Couldn't be any worse surely.

Poore got found out when we bashed the Dragons in that semi final at Kogarah and then the Broncos did the same thing the week after in 2009 finals at suncorp.

He was signed as the heir apparent to replace Cayless.

But turned into as you say a slug.

It's been a while since we have very been brazen and publicly open to signing anyone.

BA has always said not much when it comes to recruitment but basically admitted it was on the Dragons opening the door and we were interested if the Dragons wanted to let him go.

Which they have now by releasing him from the final 2 years of his contract from next year.

So the club must have been confident it would get done.

BA has been a fan of Lomax and trying to get him since at least 2022 (maybe even 2021) so all the talk in here that we haven't been trying to get a decent outside back to the club is just that, talk.

My constant mail over that time is that there hasn't been anyone of note available and that signing fringe first graders like Harper have always been stop-gap measures. The idea that we would develop from within has always been one approach but not the only one.

Would it be beneficial to do a swap for 2024 for the eels? or just wait until 2025? Imo RCG & Paulo are both 30 so who knows how long they have left at a quality level. I think eels should push for a swap this year, he might be the strike piece needed to really challenge for the top 4 & finals.

Don't know who the dragons & eels would agree upon though. I'd love Hopgood or Talagi but maybe a matterson or lane would work instead? Don't really like either of those guys though...

Interesting month ahead for both clubs re lomax!
