Jarryd's ego would probably love being flown in for his comeback match in Origin 3, a la Alfie Langer's return years ago .

Funny to hear talk that Roosters have underspent the cap by $600K - that explains why they've been so shit this season!

Great to read that Brad Arthur apparently just doesn't care about getting Jarryd back, and understands the importance of strengtheing other areas of the team - and results in the first season we could plan for life without Hayne are speaking for themselves.

Don't you have to spend a certain amount of your cap every year????

Massive risk pinning your hopes on Hayne not making it sounds like more BS involving Hayne to promote more click bait.

Yeh, but you can underspend by $600k. Of course, they are trying to extend Napa, Cordner etc, and when they do, they'll have space for a bit of front-loading.

available to play for the Blues in the third State of Origin game against the Maroons on Wednesday July 13 at ANZ Stadi

What an idiot, there is no way in the world Hayne would be capable of playing Origin so soon after returning. He would be blowing candles out after 10 mins. He might be a fit dude, but the NFL training doesnt focus on fitness that would enable him to return within a week or so of departing

His an idiot, yeah like Hayne would be hanging out with the eels and promoting our season launch if he was secretly negotiating with the Roosters.

Not a bad efford knowing he will sign a 3 year deal with them too. Becauze he would be privy to the length of a wishful thinking contract

the NRL will pay most of his salary as Grant is filthy with Parra and wants to be seen as a hero for getting him back, pissing off Parra and pleasing Politis all at the same time

On Hayne to the Roosters, I guess it depends on which story you give the most credence. I mean is this not the same Roosters who let go Jennings and are paying part of his contract reportedly due to the pressure retaining other members of their squad was placing on their cap.

Yet they are now 600K under their spend?

Yeah, that all adds up.

Slow news day.

I remember the Special One saying he used to laugh when he read articles linking him to the Chooks

Remember last year when Rothfield constantly said Hayne was a done deal to the Roosters for the beginning of this season?

Lol dickhead.

Even hoping Jarryd makes a go of his second season in NFL, he and his manager would be pretty darned silly if they hadn't sounded out a "what if" option come July, if the new coach doesn't want raw experiments near his top 53.

I suspect overseas Union might be the best option, but if an NRL club is constantly knocking at your door with ready cash in hand... it beats having to learn a whole new code/playbook.

Hayne turned down 1.5 mill a year for 100k.....

If parra could only offer a total package of around 1 million and roosters could come up with 1.4 i reckon he would still chose Parra. Isn't a money chaser and my opinion is he would love to pay back the club.

On the down side If we re-sign Norman and have Foran along with Semi and Jennings do we put that much money into the backline? It means our forward pack will get a lot weaker. I think we have a good balance at the moment. Perhaps re-sign gordon for a year unless we think Bevan is ready in that case we have a cheap fullback for maybe another 2 seasons.

That's true, and as much as I love watching Hayne play, I do think the balance in this squad is better without him - much as it pains me to say it.

Still - I'd love it if he came back and won us a comp.

We're simply not going to "come up with a package" for Jarryd.

We are at the limit of cap expenditure (as seen by recent reviews/fines), and have moved on to trying to have a balanced squad (as per Arthur's quote about strengthening the side not the position of fullback) instead of saving space for the prodigal son.

The only hope of Hayne coming back to Parra is if Watmough retires, and - given that Paulo is leaving - that salary money is probably better devoted to positions other than fullback. The Roosters can have him, Jarryd's more than ready to move on from us (as he showed by cutting short his Eels contract).

Fair sentiments Eele. But I actually think this squad will win a comp without Hayne soon enough (this year/next year) :D.
