The salary cap keeps going up so we have no idea how many players we have to lose to be honest.

The salary cap is going up for every club though. So it increases the cost of every player, especially the most expensive ones. That's where the bulk of the increases go.

Plus we don't know what kind of 3rd party deals he would attract after his stint in the NFL, he might only hit our cap for 500k.

The NRL won't allow us to pay too much of a player's salary outside the cap. They've knocked us (and other clubs) back before. So if we offer $500k + $1M third party I can't see the NRL letting it slide. And if another club is offering $1.2M + $300k third party I'm certain we'd need to do better than $500k under the cap.

The Origin side doesn't have a salary cap to worry about. You can't include Hayne in our squad without losing a lot of talent elsewhere.

My point was regarding the dependence of Hayne too much in the past

I have also said that I would have Hayne instead of Norman.

Yes Hayne would cost a bit more than normie but throw in Watmough and Normans money we should have enough.

The forward pack would still be the same as it is now

Don't resign peats and keep IDG and King together with Kaysa who is already resigned, then there is even more money.

We are getting good value out of our pack.

Teps, mau, Kenny, peni, Gower and even Mannah would not be on over the top money. Then we probably got Scott below market value

Throw in Kaysa and IDG we r getting really good value

Not to mention Gordon , Clint,taka and even Semi is a steal

I like him but I'm not sure if he's the sort of guy BA wants to be honest, we need a starting forward and he's currently coming off the bench at the Titans I also think he's a much better edge player..

It would have a roll on effect. Losing Watmough is like a get out of Jail card!! Getting Hayne for lets say 1.2 rather then Bevan or Gordon for 200k means 3 players worth 450k in the forwards rather then 3 worth 100k.
That is like having Beau Scott quality players x 3 rather then 3 x James Hassons

I reckon Tamou is far more realistic for what we could get with Watmough's money. Hayne will cost well over a million bucks on the cap.

I think losing Paulo and Watmough would free up cash to sign Tamou, with the change paying for the recent upgrade to Alvaro.

Good for him. He will be remembered fondly, I'm sure, but no player is bigger than the club. I hope the fans accept this rather than shrieking for a coach or administrator's head.
