Rumours (signings, sackings & other NRL stuff)

Haven't posted in a while, here are my unsolicited thoughts:
1. This Twal being "unwanted" story seems like complete media bs. He probably wanted X, we would only offer Y, leading to a mutual agreement he can test the market to see if he can get X. Other clubs were also only offering Y, so he decided to stay. I find it very hard to believe Twal was "unwanted" by Benji.
2. Stefano has consistently said on record (and apparently off record) he loves the club and is staying loyal. That article fails to recognize he's taking a swipe at BOTH the media and the people who are leaking to the media. We all know that the leaks are coming from up top. Another reason why we need a management clean out.
3. Bula, Api, To'a and Twal re-signing, plust Stefano not activating his clause, are all extremely good signs that the players are enjoying being at the Wests Tigers off the field. I truly believe that the center of excellence is a major factor in this. I remember a quote by Gus - "Players aren't paid to play footy, they are paid to train".
4. 800k for Best may seem like a lot, but we really do need some strike power and outside of halves (which we've signed 3 new players for) centre is our weakest position. If we have the cash then I think it's a much needed investment.

We just need to f**king sort out our godamn halves. If Sezer and Sullivan can put in an average first grade performance week in week out then top half of the bottom 8 is a realistic goal. Onwards and upwards from there.

I think if they knew where the leaks were coming from and they were not an approved leak, you would hope the leaker would be punted? But do we have many leaked stories go to the press, these days, or do the press just make them up?

Agree, the halves are our problem spots, always have been, always will be, till we get some good ones, hopefully we have.

The Twal extension is really weird. We have Klem signed for 3 more years, Stef and Pole for another 2 and both hopefully getting extended. Then you get guys like Kit, Matamua, Miller and Faagutu are all middles. Plus Blore seems to have been moved into the prop rotation.

$400k is still probably slightly overs for him but much better then $525k. Strange decision imo
Putting the money aside for a minute I don't think we are flush with players that can play big minutes and hold their own, not yet anyway. If you look at those figures I posted a couple of weeks ago it indicated that Twally was scoring consistently around the 50 SC points and finished quiet well. I'm glad we resigned him but I agree with ya Vic that the money and the term is a bit out of whack.
Twally and big red are a fly's foreskin off from being great benchies.
I know I'm on my own here a bit but it's too late now so it's super kebabs for me.

I think Benji's going to go all out with Best. He needs a strike centre badly and it could really be a saving grace for his debut coaching gig.

You would hope they would get rid of the snitches asap but easier said than done, especially if the leaks are coming from people like Lee.

If I was doing this review, I'd go Tyrion Lannister on them and tell all the suspects something completely different and see which stories get leaked. Would be a very interesting read once the review is done

TBH I’m not sure heard much about Roumanos at all?

At the end of the article they mention some OS blokes, where one would have to be moved on from Castleford if this bloke was to join them.

One of the players mentioned is Jacob Miller, at one time looked at one of our best options for 7, anyone know how he’s travelling and would he be an option to come back here?

Roumanos played off the bench for nsw cup, looked at home in that grade

Millers had a decent ESL career, played more fullback then 7. Probably should have taken a chance and come home 4 or 5 years ago, too old to have a crack at NRL now

My crystal ball is telling me all the possible halves combinations will used by Benji next year as he searches for success in his first year at the helm.
Even Latu Fainu might end up playing along side Sezer and Sullivan...all three at once maybe.
What we mere mortals need to do is think of the most stupid and outlandish decisions that WT could make next year then put money on it...nothing would surprise me.
Whilst talking about Latu Fainu, has anyone noticed he has similar traits to that of DCE. Maybe whilst Latu spent time at Manly he has picked up some good things from the little maestro. He even runs like him...very upright and strong through the hips.

My thoughts exactly, on single every point. Like button playing silly buggers again.

I'm happy for big red and twally resigning. They need to repay the club now for the faith shown to them.
I don't agree. Twal has always put in and well deserves this contract. Seyfarth has only been extended to 2015 and is unlikely wouldn't be on much anyway, so it's not like the club is taking some huge gamble here.

You don't agree with what Fordy. The fact that we didn't leave them out in the cold or you don't want them to repay the club with effort?
Releasing Ken Maumalo (went to Easts soon EPL so that's a no from me), Tommy Talau (hot/cold) Brooks (couldn't ice games) Tukimihia Simkins (done nothing) Noffa (borrowed time) Rua Ngatikaura (couldn't own a bike) are just a few that have/should have gone but big red isn't breaking the bank and if he can remain injury free this time he'll be a good benchie.
Watch some of the games this year and you'll see him turn and chase when others have put the cue in the rack. He scored a nice meat pie and competes. I haven't lost faith in him or Twal...just my opinion as I respect yours mate.

I’m more than happy we kept Seyfarth, he’s only young and imo, has a lot of potential and as you say, he does some 1% stuff that others don’t.
Its always been said that FR don’t mature until at least 28yo, so if he does keep improving he’ll be a great weapon for us.
Not unhappy about keeping Twal either, don’t think he’ll ever be a consistent starter, but you need depth and experience and imo, he has it.

The fact that the well dried up has forced our hand somewhat.
As you said TM, we need depth and these two are maturing. We'll have to see what happens I guess.
My Christmas present is Bradman Best. I've been a good boy so Santa should reward me.

Seyfarth is a really good kid. He’s close mates with my neighbour & another Dundas shamrocks junior. He has plenty of upside & unlike others he gives a fk about the club & hence will leave no stone unturned re evolving into a high quality forward who will contribute immensely to the advancement of the rabble.
