Let’s do this..I’m thinking Hunt is after the money cos there won’t be a premiership with the bulldogs WT or titans any time soon..He sounds pretty determined..The reason? Prob the $750k he’s on.. he knows we could nearly double that at WT but also The dragons not turning up for the end of year function could indicate what the team is about, and maybe Joes emotional reaction to leaving says a lot about our guys? Hunt may not change us into top 4 but maybe we can stop this habit of losing games we could easily win and go from there…

WIth the Chooks throwing their sombrero into the ring for Hunt I suspect thats the end of the story on him

This wont be popular, but I think we should get Flannagan and Walker. Both young, both on the outer and as Sheens has always played either side footy in the backs I dont think it matters they are both 7s.

They will be cheap, which should leave us plenty of cash for upgrades in the backs.

3 years for one and 4 for the other and with Jareame in the 1 that helps sort out a nice young spine for some time.

I’d be happy to see how Wakeham develops?

Hopefully this youngster and his family are close with our new recruitment manager, he’s getting big wraps.

It hard to believe anyone at board level has the temerity to be seen in public.

The coaching staff should be forced to repay half their salary. They have no idea what they are doing.

Nothing will change until 2028.

If WT arnt breaking the rules and at least putting their feelers out on hunt before they are allowed to, then they arnt doing their job..you get the feeling Hunt must know there’s a deal out there that he’s happy with
At his age I think the $$ would come before the premiership ? Hopefully we got lots of it

Hunt isn't exactly carrying St George on his back to great success. He'd be nice to get but at a 1.3 - 1.6 and lining up next to Wakeham it would be a waste.

Forget about $1.6mil. No player is worth that. I think $1.4 would be enough, even with 3-4 clubs chasing Hunt. . . I doubt anyone would want to be responsible for parting with much more after Pongas issues..
Hunt hasn’t changed their season but who knows, maybe SGI are more of a basket case than WT.. I think our forwards are sweet and there’s leaders amongst them. The backs tho are rudderless and combined with Hunts leadership, things could fall into place.
None of the clubs vying for Hunt are standouts on the field. Gold Coast are the most likely. Hopefully we can afford 2-300 more than the second best offer with Brooks fking off

I wouldn’t give up on Wakeham after 2-3 months in the NRL. (Brooks was given about a decade)He seems to have all the tools and is willing to have a go. And he’d be a lot better with someone inside him that knows what they’re doing, to take the pressure off.

We can humour ourselves with the odd big name but at the end of the day, it’s not going to matter because the coaching, retention and recruitment is less than pathetic.

The fact is that we have people in management making poor decisions which is reflected in the outcomes. Day after day, week after week, they do not have the skills and abilities to make something of this club.

Our board is wholly unaccountable, they changed their rules a few years ago to ensure their rule in their obscene failed state of a club continues.

They get paid as do the coaching staff. They all get full pay for failure. It would be difficult to stuff this club up so bad, but somehow they’ve found a way.

None of them accept their evident failings and the extent to which they are destroying this club and letting us down, our sponsors and others.

When the magpie boss told them the truth, they had the audacity to threaten him.

Despite years of promises and big spending we have been unable to field a competitive football side.

So it will be until there is a change of circumstances that releases of from this rugby league hell on earth.

Stuff the whole game if all it delivers is perpetual misery, greed and indifference to its consumers.

We all know what’s coming, more bullshit promises and spin to try to keep us engaged. More lies, an insincere sorry but no one in power is going to fall on their sword. They are too busy munching out on their self perceived importance and cash benefits.

I don’t blame anyone for checking out of the club or the game for a few years. That’s looking like the best option.

Wt is a failed state of an nrl club. A banana republic.

Lee is singularly the most unimpressive board member in the game. A self obsessed squirming bumbling idle rich idiot trying to bullshit his way on board management. Clueless. He’s had more than enough time to do something, all he’s done so far is a leave a trail of chaos and destruction in his wake with no end in sight. He should find another toy.

The whole board should resign en masse before we collect another 5 spoons in a row.

Otherwise maybe the Broncos can buy us out as a feeder club, some kind of full time Sydney presence. The Concord Clydesdales.

Turn the coe into a homeless shelter. Make better use of it.

Another shock club has entered the race for Ben Hunt, with Mat Rogers reporting that Ben Hunt is set to sign with the Wests Tigers.
The St George Illawarra Dragons halfback and skipper requested a release on Saturday afternoon, which was then knocked back by the Dragons, with the club denying him the release.
Getting ready to lace up his boots tonight for Queensland, Hunt is set to meet with the Dragons' board and incoming coach Shane Flanagan once he returns to the club to speak about his contract.
The Canterbury Bulldogs, Dolphins, and Gold Coast Titans - the frontrunners - have all so far shown interest in the Queensland and Australian playmaker.
However, according to Mat Rogers on SEN 1170, the Wests Tigers have entered the race for Hunt and will reportedly be the club he ends up at if he doesn't stay with the Dragons.
According to Rogers, the Wests Tigers are set to offer Ben Hunt a salary of $1 million per season.
"They are going to pay him a million bucks (per season)," Roger said on SEN 1170.
"It's from a source that I trust.
"I'm just a bit baffled by it."
The Wests Tigers are in the market for a new halfback after Luke Brooks rejected a contract extension put forward by the club. While coach Tim Sheens confirmed on Saturday night that the club is on the lookout for a quality half.
With Luke Brooks set to leave the club at the end of the season, Brandon Wakeham off-contract and Adam Doueihi injured, the club currently has no first-grade halves signed for next season.

well at least we seem to be in the conversation now. If we can at worst case make another club have to stretch their cap to afford him it might help us with other players

$1m is not enough, that’s less than Brooksy.

A player of his calibre and ability shouldn’t have to get out bed for less than $1.2m

If he runs at the line once per season that 4000% more than Brooks.

Plus he can kick. A lost art.
