DailyTelecrap...................TodayNRL 2023: Wests Tigers reveal $1 million play for Broncos free agent Payne Haas.
Sorry I'm not a subscriber.
It's an unofficial bid otherwise it's illegal.
Yeah, so its an unreliable rumour, I don’t read their crap either.

This Hooper on NRL360 is an idiot. For ages he's been saying that Pascoe needs to keep out of the media and concentrate on running the club....now he's saying where is the CEO and why is Lee the spokesman.
Well he is our chairman which traditionally is the voice when needed. Pascoe can stay in the office and count jersey and membership numbers. "Simple" said in a cheeky meerkat tone.
Hooper's credibility is as great as his hairstyle.....bald!

Tigers could sign Latrell, Munster, Cleary and Haas and 360 will still find a negative angle. I would think one thing they got their knickers in a knot over is the fact that Lee actually did well when on the show Monday, he straight batted every question they had and gave direct answers. One advantage of having a lawyer as the chairman.

I agree with this. The only thing Lee did wrong was putting it back on the board. Lee is "Chairman Of The Board"
I was wrong in a way when I said a chairman is traditionally a spokesman. I was leaning toward a chairman's role to put an end to when the COE/Club and when I say club I mean the agreed directives set down by the board, go off the rails so to speak. He gets them back on track.
As you said Hoof, Lee is the one to talk to media because he knows legal matters and is extremely confident but he is the top pony on that board.
Lee said a couple of times that noone, including the COE is guaranteed a job next term because of legal ramifications...this is a good way to answer it.
The big problem with having the Chair as our major sponsor is it makes his position set in concrete because no board member is going to disagree with him in fear of Lee taking his money elsewhere.

I thought Lee was easily seen through and the media gave him a free ride.

But…..

Fainus are big big signings, actual quality.

Best signings since Api, they tick all boxes.

That’s Fulton, off to a flying start.

As soon as we sign an official without a fat snout in the trough something good happens.

It seems quite obvious to me that Pascoe delivered Fulton. The old sloth did something right. Maybe he’s on a roll.

Maybe things are on the up?!

Just curious...who has their snout in the trough? Doesn't that mean financial corruption? Who's milking the club for personal gain? Just having a well
paid job and not doing it well enough in somebody's opinion would qualify a lot of people as having their snout in the trough then.

I could not agree more. I cannot stand that bloke. He's emblematic of everything wrong with what passes as sports journalism today. Everything is an outrage / disgrace / abomination etc etc.

I could cop that to a certain extent if he ventured an opinion about what he would do faced with the same situation, or provided some sort of constructive criticism. Instead it's manufactured outrage in an effort to make himself look good and important.

What has he ever accomplished in rugby league? Nothing. Except tear it and other people down.

It’s a derogatory term, but it doesn’t invoke actual corruption. It’s more about “having a lend”

The Board members get paid. They are no good. They aren’t democratically elected by members.
They are ineffective as we are coming last with a doubtful future. They are having a lend.

The coach is hopeless. He gets paid a lot. We are coming last. He’s having a lend.

Benji is getting paid, he is no good in coaching either. He’s having a lend.

Justin is supposed to do the boards bidding and make good decisions and give them sound advice. He’s having a bit less of a lend, but he’s on too much.

But they all have their “snouts in the trough.”

They get rewards of personal resources for presiding over a catastrophe.

All of them have the option of taking less personal reward reflecting their incompetency and owning up to their evident failings. None of them do.

They should not expect to get rewarded so handsomely for driving this club off a cliff.

They should reduce their personal takings from the club and get their noses out of the trough!

A lot of people have their snouts in the trough, sure, but that doesn’t make it right for us to join them.

It’s not my opinion that we are bad, it is fact, look at our results, look at our roster, look at our position on the ladder. By almost every conceivable standard, our management has failed us.

I think it’s ok to expect some kind of reasonable result when we pour these resources into these misfits.

We don’t even manage average, not even below average.

I’m sorry but we are currently the worst club in the nrl. We were last year. If we get 17th this year, we’ve gone backwards from last year. That’s remarkable. That is an accomplishment never before achieved in NRL history. It doesn’t get any worse. It can’t, it’s impossible to be as poor a club than us at the moment.

None of our management are doing anything for free. As Alan Jones said, they should resign or I say even gives themselves kpis.

They are accountable to no one. Money for nothing and their tickets for free.

Thanks Das, awesome questions.

We are well and truly stuffed at the moment.

Things are that bad I’m afraid.

Fulton is the only dim light in the place.

I disagree slightly with your view of the board, in that there role is to provide the finances and infrastructure for a footy team. And they do this.

I believe most teams are run this way, where the leagues club (or some entity) would give the football club (2 seperate bodies) the money and they would choose how to spend it, with some oversight.

They are not required to be experts on running a footy club or team, they hire people to do that (e.g. Gould and Bulldogs) and the measurements are easily identified, winning footy games.

Imo, they made 2 major blunders recently:

1. Giving Cleary the cheque book, he screwed our cap for some years, because the board lacked the experience to know any better.

2. Rehiring Sheens as the coach, he has undoubted experience, but while he has had GF success, his record is not that good. I believe they should have kept him in a consultancy role.

For me, the fix we need, is to get a good coach, not easy, but urgently required. The trouble is the boards consultant is the current coach:(

I disagree, our board intervenes in forensic operations all the time!

For example, most recently ( but for the good) in hiring Fulton.

For the bad, approval of multiple bad decisions, key failings you have identified.

If they were employees, they’d be sacked.

Agree they do the hiring and firing on key staff members, it’s part of the job and Lee has mentioned, we are not a huge corporation?

That’s the point, they are not employees, which allows them to make independent decisions.

Captain Koroisau extends contract

Finally some good news. This extention will give potential signings confidence to commit.
I'd like to see Bula locked in for 5 years too.
