Rumours (signings, sackings & other NRL stuff)

Agree they do the hiring and firing on key staff members, it’s part of the job and Lee has mentioned, we are not a huge corporation?

That’s the point, they are not employees, which allows them to make independent decisions.

Their decisions have proven to be very bad.

They are not really independent either. They are reliant on keeping their appointers club buddies friendly. They are not accountable to us.

There are other factors too such as the influence of sponsors.

And the material Pascoe and co feeds them in his advice when he reports.

I hazard a guess that Pascoe was behind both Hollers and Fulton. He provided these options to the board as a recommendation and they wisely accepted his proposals to approach. If not, he has certainly followed through with requisite vigour.

Which makes Lees comments interesting.

Fulton signed Api too. Critical signing for many reasons.

We are on the same page regarding coaches.

This civil war has been great for the roster lol.

Does the Koroisau signing say:
he's confident in the vision of the 'football club'? and
he is confident in Marshall's ability as a 1st grade coach?

Perhaps he can work in the office and work on a contract extension of Bula and anyone else 'he' wants to retain in the team.
Yep, @Nutz and @Old Time Tiger , I think Bulla and his like are certainly our future and need to be secured, before the big clubs get to his manager.

Very 'appy with Api extending...rotate him and Da Silva. The game's only getting faster so a fresh quality No 9 for the 80 is a must. No danger of losing Da Silva I don't think...maybe Rua though?
Yeah, we seem to have an abundance of 9’s don’t we.

AUSTIN’S NRL RETURN

Former Raiders, Tigers and Panthers playmaker Blake Austin has revealed he has aspirations to return to the NRL.

The 32-year-old is currently plying his trade for the Leeds Rhinos in the Super League, making the move abroad after the 2018 season.

Austin is off-contract at the season’s end and is yet to make a decision regarding his future, having previously been linked with a move back to Australia during his time at Warrington.

Now, Austin has signalled his intentions to once again feature in the NRL.

“I have never been afraid to do things a bit differently. If an opportunity came up to go home, that would be something I would look at and my kids would push me and force me to look at,” Austin said on the JBK Show.

“I am really confident I could cut it. I think I could do a really good job at 14.

“If I was going back I would want to go to a successful team and just focus on me but I’m open to all offers.”

He also said the Tigers can “give me a call if they want” after their public pursuit of Super League halfback Aidan Sezer

I always liked this guy, could never understand how we let him go?

Yes TM, I said the other day that Da Silver looks like a ½. He might be a good utility player when he gets more NRL under his belt.
He just might turn into
Da Gold hee hee.
I had a very favourable report from my specialist today so nothin can upset.
I've had nothing but good news all week so maybe my luck might turn the tigers around tonight and thump the dragons.
I hope all of you are having a good night too.

Stefano talking about still being here in 5 years time? He’s only going to get better.

Yeah, he’s a bit of an enigma.

It’s hard to maintain the faith but it’s never dull with this club?

Speaking to the Courier Mail, Hagipantelis explained the Tigers could offer Haas a salary north of $1 million-per-season.

“We have cap space and we have the money for a player of Payne Haas’ calibre,” Hagipantelis said.

“His name would be floated at our list-management committee meetings, it would have to be.

“It would be naive to think that a player of the calibre of Payne Haas would not be the subject of consideration internally.

“I don’t partake in discussions at that level, so I can’t comment affirmatively, but I would be very surprised if Payne Haas’ name is not being raised internally, as you would expect it to be.

Laurie looked alright last night in 6. Defence was good & we looked more dangerous with him running. He absolutely blew up when Wakeham kicked his short kick dead. It sounds like he's gone to Penrith, but offering him a modest 2 year contract would be worth considering.

Wakeham wasn’t ready and we couldn’t instill the footy virtues we needed from him.

But I feel he’s tried and I won’t criticise him unfairly.

I'd say that was his best game for us since he's been here. Showed some glimpses of flashiness, however, not making stupid mistakes and being solid in defence was most impressive. Good to see as I personally think he's been awful the last year or so. We could do worse keeping him around that's for sure.

I think the whole team needs brain transplants after that second half display last night. I know they are footy players not rocket surgeons, but f**k me. Sheens too after taking Api off for a pointless rest.
