Finals should not even be on the agenda this year. If it happens then that is great. I just want us to drag these games into the deep end and see who is the strongest swimmer.
IF we field our best 17 and get the best out of the individuals and as a team, then I think we can be playing finals footy.

Obviously they are huge ifs.

I’d be confident of a strong showing this year if we can keep our 1,7,9 on the field for the majority of games. I actually think Ponga is the most easily replaceable guy in our spine.

What do you mean by that?

It’ll be Gamble or Clune replacing him and I’m not sure they’d be offering us close to what he does.

We essentially have no backup fullback, hooker or halfback that’s NRL quality.

I think we’d go further in a season with Miller, Gamble, Hastings and Brailey as our spine compared to having Ponga in there with 1 of the others missing.

I’m not saying Ponga is the weakest link, just that he’s playing in the position that’s most easily covered by depth.

1 Hodgson
6 Gamble
7 Clune
9 Crossland

you just know we are running that out by round 12.

we have run out worse tbh 🫠

Barry’s pod this week had some very interesting chat around O’Brien. Flanno is the name which came up in discussion as a possible. The standout comment by Toohey though was his acknowledgment of just how unpopular O’Brien is around town and the game in general. He said he likes Adam but also feels he is really under the pump.

Flanno.
Drugged his team.
Cheated the salary cap the year before their premiership.
Cheated the salary cap the year after their premiership.
Just what we need.

Also - while we are at it, Des.
Control freak in a club that will never relinquish control.
Contract backloader that cripples clubs after he leaves.
Just what we need.

I'd take each of those for a year than the spiral towards complete shit AOB offer us.

Des wouldn’t come here.

Flannel probably does an ok job. Knows how to fix a club but we are a far bigger fix job than Cronulla was, and no bending the rules here.

Shaun Wane maybe. But we probably break him.

I'll throw Rohan Smith's name out there as a random smokey. Might just be nostalgia, but maybe he's got his dad's brains but with a bit more ability to man-manage.

Rohan would be my first pick but I cannot help but feel he will face the same issues as O’Brien. What must change is the players need to be challenged outside of playing safe and predictable football. Rohan Smith totally overhauled Leeds’ attack in half a season. I have never seen a side change so quickly and effectively in my time. They were clueless under the previous coach. It can happen here too.

I don't think anyone is saying that AOB doesn't have problems, more that he doesn't have solutions.

Some stats from the game that frustrate me to no end:

Offloads : 9 to 4 (Warriors)
Receipts : 404 to 376 (Warriors)
All Runs : 177 to 181 (Us)
All Run Metres : 1,690 to 1,445 (Warriors)
Line Breaks : 8 to 2 (Warriors)
Kicking Metres : 393 to 472 (Us)
Ineffective Tackles : 8 to 14 (Us)
Mann ineffective tackles : 4 (Most in the game)

The stats show that we are just running it one out. We don't offload, we don't cause the defense any headaches and it's easy to dominate us in the tackle because we only ever take it one out. Mann is too small to be playing this style of football. Mann played okay this game but we need a bigger 13. This isn't 2019....

What's the point of putting Ponga at 6 if he never gets the ball.. AOB needs to go asap.

A genuine question from outside....i'm sure it's been brought up often but ...what's the feeling about Johns coaching with the right assistants around him to run the nuts and bolts side of things?....he seems to have the answers to everything so would his experience..knowledge and aura hold a big enough whip to get things straightened out? Yes / No / F UK NO! ?

Andrew is already coaching the halves.

The players literally won’t put in for the greatest Knight ever (sorry Chief). That is how ingrained the attitude problem is at the Knights.

Yeah I know his role there at the moment...just wonder if he'd step up to wear the big pants
