So does it happen this week? Cos I will LOL if McDermott gets the interim and we go on a streak.

I really don’t think it’s going to happen sadly. I hope I’m wrong but I reckon we’re going to give AOB until the end of the year at least, maybe even more. The club have given no indication they’ve even considering it. The only speculation is from Weidler who has no idea. Stories from Baz and McKinnon (who actually have involvement/connections to club) make it sound like the club and the players are behind AOB. Ugh. We really needed to be flogged last night.

Did we though? I agree on paper it's harder to ignore being flogged but isn't it telling enough our full strength team didn't look as fit, organised or committed as the Panthers reserves team.

I'm pretty sure we lost to a team on half of our team's salary last night.

This is all I need to know. Our coach isn't up to it and isn't getting out of this team what he should be.

We can all see this as clear as day but while ever we’re not getting flogged every week like we were last year AOB is going to use the excuse that they’re close losses, we’ve improved on last year, the players are still buying in, etc. All complete bullshit but I fear some people at this club will be dumb enough to believe it (or will use it as justification themselves not to make the tough decisions) - the club is way too nice for its own good.

Just doesn't get much more shameful than this. So pathetic. I wanna know AOBs secret, because keeping you job after underperforming for this long is the most impressive thing you could say he's done.
Real talk I think our loss to the Roosters was a lot more embarrassing, lol. Panthers may have had 6 players out but they're the #1 club and its their defence that is winning them games.

Roosters were one of the shittest teams in the comp, had players out, and lost more during the game, playingat home... man I think that was our worst loss all year, it'll be hard to top.

Yeah I don't disagree, it's more just... It keeps happening. Over and over. For years now. It's insanity.

Mary is one of the few who I'd feel worse about than the current coach. It's a step backwards. I'm no fan of Madge at all, but compared to Mary he's Craig Bellamy.

Same. I think I’d take anyone over him (expect maybe Hook).

Say we fired AOB this week as we have the bye, (still doubt it will happen but hypothetically), I wouldn’t be in a rush to make a decision for a head coach for next year as there aren’t any real standout options. McDermott is more than experienced enough to manage the side in the interim and the season is gone anyway. Need to take our time in making the right decision. I really wouldn’t be surprised if someone like Trent Robinson became available later in the year either if the Roosters don’t make the 8 (they don’t stand for mediocrity unlike us).

We’ve had a few now.

Parra, Roosters and Panthers.

Hard choice. It’s a shame Parra left so much out there. Could have easily put 70+ on us and unfortunately that’s no exaggeration.

Roosters was pretty bad considering it was 4th string spine and their chief organizer went down early on. We played half the game against 15 men and a lot of out of form players. Plus we were at home.

Would love to see if we can add a 4th contender to this list next week when we play the Bulldogs 🥲

The whole "aNyBoDy IS beTTeR" shit is exhausting. They're not. Things aren't going great, realistically our squad right now isn't great and never was coming into the year. We're realistically only a little under expectations for the year.

But to just dive head first into hyperbole with the change for change sake approach is rubbish and I'll be interested to read the opinions if we landed Mary because it won't be better.

I didn’t realise we’ve only won 2 of our last 9. And that’s been against Manly with no origin players and Titans who are nearly as up and down as us.
I remember in 2013 about halfway through the year the team had an honesty session, then we had a great 2nd half of the season.
We need something like that now. Players need to be called out and want to play for each other and the club.
It’s not to late to save the season, but they need a complete 180.

I just can't believe anybody would sit there and defend him at this point. We need change. His own assistant coach would be better. You know who Brian McDermott is right?

Mate we had Wayne Bennett at the helm in 2013 lol. And some bloke named Danny Buderus as the nucleus and heart of the side.

We had an honesty session last year too. Did us a world of good. Yes the players share some of the blame, I'm not disputing that, but after 4 long and tiring years, it's crystal clear that O'Brien isn't the one to turn them around.

You can go back to threads from 2021 with some of us discussing how poorly coached we look and how much we're underperforming compared to our roster. There's nothing new here. AOB has never once looked even half competent. In 4 years, what can you point to as an indication this is the guy to fix our club? A single shred of evidence?

No one is going to give you any awards or pats on the back for being the most obnoxious or most outraged. No one is happy with how things are going.

Like it or not McDermott isn't the one being linked to take over. McDermott's last coaching spells were in second division English football. Not even close to what the NRL is. His last success was in 2017. Could he be good? Maybe. But in NRL he's as unproven as anyone as far as NRL goes.

You know who Paul McGregor is, right?

See, it doesn't help further the conversation at all.

Who cares. AOB needs to go. What message are we going to sending if we keep him? Of course our players are supporting AOB. They wouldn't get a gig anywhere else in the NRL! The moment we get a competent coach, more than half the side is out of a job.

We've been asking for the sack for 3 seasons now. During that time nothing has improved. I can't think of one aspect or player that has improved in the past 3 years. I honestly want to know what sort of training we do all week. We have absolutely no structure in attack and our players are gassed 50 minutes into every game.
