No one is going to give you any awards or pats on the back for being the most obnoxious or most outraged. No one is happy with how things are going.

Like it or not McDermott isn't the one being linked to take over. McDermott's last coaching spells were in second division English football. Not even close to what the NRL is. His last success was in 2017. Could he be good? Maybe. But in NRL he's as unproven as anyone as far as NRL goes.

You know who Paul McGregor is, right?

See, it doesn't help further the conversation at all.
You're making a claim that there's no-one better, i'm responding by pointing out that there's a far more credentialed and capable bloke right under our noses, let alone on the market. I'm not trying to be obnoxious, i'm flabergasted at how anyone could defend this rot.

Why are you defending him? What about the way we've played and regressed over the past 4 seasons brings you to believe this guy is our man? I think i've covered over a very long period of time all the reasons on and off field why he's a shit coach, but if you really like I can repeat myself.

Who cares. AOB needs to go. What message are we going to sending if we keep him? Of course our players are supporting AOB. They wouldn't get a gig anywhere else in the NRL! The moment we get a competent coach, more than half the side is out of a job.

We've been asking for the sack for 3 seasons now. During that time nothing has improved. I can't think of one aspect or player that has improved in the past 3 years. I honestly want to know what sort of training we do all week. We have absolutely no structure in attack and our players are gassed 50 minutes into every game.

This. Just get rid of him already. Nobody is saying McDermott will be our new head coach (I don’t really want anyone involved currently to get a promotion), but he’s more than capable of taking over in the interim until we decide who would be the best replacement for AOB.

Just get him out so we try and tease apart which players are worth keeping and being coached badly and which ones are just plain shit.

Would be much more excited by Michael Cheika than any of the other options around. Not sure the club are ambitious enough to even think of him though.

Edit - I think from memory Garnder got the shits with him for contacting Kalyn a few years back while he was under contract.

Realistically it either works or it doesn’t. If it doesn’t… oh no we are in the same spot we are in. No retread will remotely move the needle.

Cheika is exactly the sort of coach we needed to bring in straight after Brown. While Browny obviously lacked a lot of skills as a first grade coach, there's no denying that he probably built the best roster we could have hoped for considering where we were at after the Stone/Bennett years. I'd have him back in a heartbeat in a recruitment role...just never as a coach.

We needed to bring someone in who had the tactical and motivational ability that Brown didn't to take us to the next level but unfortunately we went for the complete opposite in AOB. The club definitely fell for his "4 premierships" bullshit.

Just out of interest, I wanted to see if we’re the worst club of the last 15 years

list of nrl teams below that haven’t been in a grand final in the last 15 years (excluding Dolphins), sorted by most wooden spoons in the last 15 years

West tigers - 1 spoon
Gold Coast Titans - 2 Spoons
Newcastle knights - 3 spoons

yep, that’s depressing

didn’t even need to look to tell you that. We have had two acceptable seasons since 2002 (2006, 2013).

Titans sack their coach and are already looking 10x better against the Broncos at Suncorp...

HINT HINT WESTS
Titans players now playing for a spot next year. The difference in motivation is huge.

I know people hate the Saifitis but when they are motivated there aren't many better props in the game. They aren't the workhorse Haas type but they are big and forceful enough to land on their knees and elbows every hit up and get us a quick play the ball. Even Gus loves them. I'd love to see them play week in week out with some motivation. Probably won't happen here.

their issue is lateral movement in defence. Which has been greatly exposed having Brails out and also a less mobile 13 in Elliott.

Where did I bring Parr into it?
Gardner has been full of promises and hasn't delivered.
He's not the be all and end all to the Knights or Wests. He's a CEO and that's all.
The Wests Group is NFP and membership based.
Come when he retires or if he passes what then do you expect to happen?
Time to take responsibility.
The knights make up such a small part of the overall business at wests and as long as the group remains highly profitable then Phil is safe. In terms of the registered clubs industry Phil is one of the longest tenured and highly regarded CEOs in the industry who has been at the helm for the biggest growth periods and expansion of the wests group, he’s not going to be sacked because the a very small part of the business isn’t winning football games (despite remaining profitable).
