Sack Adam O'Brien

So just stick with AOB is the solution?
You keep saying sack him, yet all your solutions are not available (Flanagan) or would never work in our organisation (Hasler).

So, yes - until we have a better solution, you stick with what you have.

It’s got nothing to do with guts. I’m taking the emotion out of it and looking at what a highly successful leagues club would do financially - and that is not pay another coach out again. They said they wouldn’t do that after paying Browny $500K to leave.

I agree with everyone that our trajectory is uninspiring at best. I agree he needs a bit more of a chance with a new half given he was left with no half last year, and made the finals two years prior.

I would say he is only sacked IF we have an outstanding candidate to replace him - and that isn’t Shane Flanagan or Des Hasler.

The bigger problem is the ingrained attitude problem in the club. If that doesn’t change, it doesn’t matter who coaches them, and there have been a string of good coaches who can’t make that change.
I think I lean on the side of agreeing with this. Pointless sacking and paying out a coach only to bring in someone either unproven or someone looking for short term results (i.e. when we brought Bennett in)

The tricky bit with Flanagan is that he did turn the Sharks into a really tough club. The whole drug/salary cap cheat thing is going to hang around him like a bad smell for a while but he still coached that team to be hard to beat so there’s something in that.

There’s also Madge McGuire who I’m sure would be looking for a new coaching gig and might have reflected on his time at the Tigers and what went wrong there. He’s also had some time out of the game now so would hopefully be rejuvenated. Not sure if he’s the answer either but the guy at least has plenty of pedigree. He’s also a massive hard-ass and would set a really high standard, provided he can do it in a way that doesn’t alienate the playing group.

I think there is every chance O’Brien ends up at Melbourne next year. While his record here has been average I still think with Bellamy as their coaching director it is plausible. Failing as a coach here is nothing new. He knows that system backwards. They were filthy when the Roosters signed him as assistant.

AOB might be a fantastic assistant. It's painfully obvious to see that he isn't a good head coach. He might be in the future but he is far from it at the moment.

Why are we not firing him? Could we be any worse? There are only 17 positions in the whole world to become an NRL head coach. You think Flanno won't leave his assistant gig to get another crack at being a head coach.

However, I am certain Parr already has a list of potential replacements already. He might not be actively seeking to replace AOB right now but I don't think he will wait much longer. No source but the man's record shows he isn't here to just collect paychecks.

If I had to choose a replacement, I wouldn't hesitate to throw the bank and then some at Billy Slater and the gang.

Jason Ryles will get the Melbourne gig. Bellamy has been grooming him to take over for years

I’m starting to think Madge wasn’t the problem at the Tigers so I think he moves up my list of candidates after seeing how they’re going this year.

Big no thanks go Madge. People can argue it all they want but Alex has a point. As it stands, there's no one to replace him with. If we were going to pull the trigger, last year was it with the two Penrith assistants. Now we have to try and wait for a replacement to emerge.

if O’Brien beats Bennett’s mob this weekend, I think everyone can forget about him being sacked any time soon. If he can somehow win these so called ‘winnable’ games with his injury and suspension toll then full credit to the man. We won’t be pretty to watch (are we ever) but Gamble and Hastings have added accountability and edge. They are going be into it up to their eye balls

That was not O’Brien last night. Young should be dropped for Marzhew. It was a match turning effort by him for all the wrong reasons. You cannot allow an effort like that to have no consequences.

Will be hilarious if he finally drops a player for having poor form/performance now.

Young should have been dropped to NSW Cup as soon as he jumped ship.

Fitzy and Crossland cost the side multiple times last night. Fitz especially is so limited that it is hard to believe he still gets a gig.

Gagai was so bad last year he should have been given a long stint in reggies.

The list goes on.

What are the chances of O’Brien finally axing a few after their contributions to the Dolphins win?

Dom had 6 errors last night. I think 3 of them lead to opposition points. He should be given a week or two in reggies to work on his game. Marzhew is an adequate replacement.

Fitzy is a good hole runner. Can find the try line and does work hard in defense. However, we are trying to use him like his is Kikau or SBW... More AOB's fault than Fitzy's.

Fitz is useless. Years at NRL level and can’t pass to save himself. We aren’t expecting him to be any of the players you mentioned, just move the ball every now and then.

IT IS A VERY BASIC SKILL YOSH.

I want him gone as much as the next guy on here but who we gonna replace him with? Also as much as it sux, Brodie Jones is probably the guy that will take Fitzy's place. Don't know what's worse.
