Sack Latimore

I would sign
Latimore up for 2019 at least. He is currently our fourth best prop and will replace Ah Mau as our third best prop.
He is only 32 at the end of this year. I can remember Billy Smith and Harry Eden playing Third Grade coming back from injuries with young Robert Stone, Bruce Starkey and Mark Shulman and they showed them a few tricks which won us premierships in 1977 and 1979.
With the exception of Allgood, our ISP Team is like an Under 23's Team with only 1-2 years senior experience. We won the ISP in
2016 because we had the majority of our players in their
mid 20's many with NRL and some with Super League experience.

I think at this time Latimore has done enough to warrant consideration for a further 1yr, no more.
We still need to fill a roster of 30 not 25 as in previous years.
Its also not Latimores problem that he gets selected each week. Similar to Nighty really.
I have a feeling that Lawrie will be the player to fill the LAM void next year. That would mean going to markef for either a young prop from another club (TPJ) or another journeyman (Sims).
Sele is unsigned for next year and is really a lock.
Host is an edge forward now stuck behind Friz and Sims and hard to justify replacing them as both are in SOO selection consideration. 3rx bench spot would be Hosts only avenue barring injury.
Kerr is a marshmellow, enough said.
Allgood probably could be considered for an extension but ISP grade only.
Wether they are considering that new prop in ISP Pia Sokobalavu (5 runs for 105m yesterday in 15 min spell against Kerr 8 runs for 80) and trialling him for a decision before june 30. Similar to Periera as an example.
In any case Latimore is doing what the coach wants and we all know McGregor has his favourites, so there's really no point debating him imo.

I like Lawrie also, He played well on the weekend looked every part a first grader, Hes got a lot of mungrel , for me hes ready for first grade right now, the more games he gets the better he will get I would never let him go at this stage hes going to be a cracker by the looks, I think hell fit on with our tough pack perfectly. I even liked his hit on Maloney, even though it was a penalty it was good to see his attitude of wanting to smash the opposing halves I think hell be a beauty!
Hell yeah! He’ll be great...

I must be watching a different Latimore, although he performed adequately in a side that under performed it was his missed tackle on Cleary that let in the first try. I wonder if people would be having this conversation if Sele or Host etc were given more game time to show there thing.

Not sure we need to rush to extend Lats contract. I doubt other clubs are lining up to steal him from us.
Can we not wait until later in the season? Sounds like McGregor's extension.

I believe that the man has been playing better than expected , sure he has had a few hiccups like the missed tackle on Cleary in Saturday's nights match , but all in all he has given 100% effort and you cannot ask for more than that .

Another years extension would be fair , more so when considering our lower grade stock of frontrowers .

Of course we never know just what our Recruitment boys may be up to , they may have already formulated a plan ' B ' to replace Leeson Ah Mau and if that is indeed the case then Latimore may be no more .

1 year contract minimal money and is made Captain of ISP and only ever plays 1st grade if every other forward is unavailable.
The young guys in ISP learn nothing as there are no senior players there to learn from.
I'm more than sure that no one in 1st grade is learning anything from him so best people start waking up to the fact he wasn't ever signed as a depth player he was always going to play 1st grade.
If he is the best we can do to occupy a bench spot and get more game time than the 0- 7 minute men then there is no chance we will be contending for the comp this year leat alone next year.
IMO far too many people like his adequacy and fail to realise his lack of potency.
Wouldn't get a bench spot at any other team with aspirations of winning the comp.

To be brutally honest I’m starting to feel the same way about Graham.
Experience, yes.
Potency, not so much.

I fully appreciate what you are saying and have been saying for quite some time now O.T.

However we can only use what we have have , sure the team would had been far better served if a higher caliber player had been signed instead of Latimore and Allgood , but unfortunately for all involved - the team , the fans and the club itself that was not to be . That being the case we cannot blame him for being selected , as is another Dragon player whom is in a similar scenario .

Yes , he would be excellent for the ISP players to learn from , however until Mary does give the younger blokes more than 5 minutes game time and does make a concrete decision to actually use them in the run on side we will be caught in this situation .

Fair enough but he did make a try saving tackle on Peachey? not long before that.Maybe he was still recovering from that chase?

He may be playing better but I saw enough of Sele in Toowomba that showed me he runs faster, harder & can offload which teased me into thinking we have seen the new bench at Latimore's expense.
McCrone gave 100% last year also & McNOIDEA gave him the same endorsement as he did Latimore on his upcoming 150 games, he said "more importantly he's a team man & the other players love having him around". Sele & the likes can forget about ever playing big minutes this year.

Yes I was waiting for that, however, there is no excuse for his arm grab attempt, any solid defender like Nappa /JDB would have been driving in with there body to get some type of body contact.

No arguments from me all I was just pointing out that he may have still been getting over the previous effort

Yes I also read that and it made me wonder yet again about Mary's capacity for thinking clearly . slippery5 - make no mistake about it , I would expect only the best players to be selected each and every week and I also believe that there are a few ISP players who should be in the top grade instead of Latimore , but we all know whom is selecting him .

Absolute stupity , as O.T. Has said earlier if the dragons wish to win a premiership they must have these younger blokes in the team , otherwise we will once again be watching the latter part of the final series as uninterested observers .

Guys I realise our prop situation is thin so way out of left field - do you learned gentlemen and ladies think that Host could be somehow turned into a prop ? I think he has the size for it - similar to prior
Justa thought and then sele could be a backrow replacement
