As I understand it we still need a top 25 at the club...so if we are paying top 25 money outside of those players it just means we have to have less money in the top 25 at the club.

From the shit I've read, I understand this is incorrect. Our top 25 cap is spread across only 25 players, some of whom are no longer at the club.

This is how we can use 31 players in season 2014 but have eight (or more) of them outside the top 25.

i think Seward handed the press really well and was well spoken, didn't get caught out with any questions. I hope he hangs around for longer than the last 2 CEO's.
Today my parra friends marks a line in the sand, the future starts now, we can see where things went wrong and now we are righting the wrongs and on the right path moving forward. We won't make the finals this year but i think we can in 2016 and from then on who knows. There are brighter days ahead.

every year teams get smacked with fines for NRL cap breeches ..... and I bet NYC and NYC 2nd tier (whatever the f**k) breeches never even get publicised ..... yet today all hell opens up cos we paid $8K worth of bloody bloody tafe fees for a few kids who had to play NYC cos we had too many other merkins being played for dicking around at other clubs

It still sucks, but if it was a systematic attempt to gain an advantage, I'd be gutted.

Not to nit pick, but that reads as though it pertains to warnings about second tier breaches. The NRL cap breach would have happened regardless of who we picked in first grade, surely? Unless it is in regards to match payments, but even that would have been hard to avoid given injuries etc.

Ultimately, I'd rather the club breached the second tier cap if needed and tried to do well than packed it in. Even the NRL realises the second tier cap is essentially meaningless in and of itself, sides have to field 17 players...our issue is the gross mismanagement of salaries across the board.

Yes it mainly was the 2nd tier cap which was by $233,036, NRL being 100k, but as I understand it that was due to picking 2nd tier players in top grade which increases their nominal worth ala the problem we had with Kingston and our 2nd tier cap being already inflated by the salary we were subsidising for players we booted end of 2013. We did not have to break those contracts or pick 2nd tier players in 1st grade last year but even though the NRL warned us not to we chose to do so.

Now without getting all hysterical and wanting people sacked over a mistake, which I certainly don't, I would feel much more confident about our future if our management would ever accept some accountability for what they do which has never happened at Parra by any of them. It is what it is, stiff shit pay the fine and move on.
