On the plus side, hopefully all of this money we're about to hand over to the NRL will find it's way to Alex McKinnon when the NRL have to pay out after he brings his negligence case against them...

If the $750k number being paid to players that we have given the arse to is anywhere near correct, its a pretty simple fix given the break up listed below of our breaches.

"He said that in 2014 the club overspent in each of the four salary cap categories. The amount of each breach is:

• NRL Top 25 - $101,718
• NRL 2nd tier - $233,036
• NYC Top 20 - $60,915
• NYC 2nd tier - $8277"

FMD people are carrying on like we killed kittens. So we're over by a few bucks. Pay the fine and move on.

The club were warned about this and did nothing??? lol yeah i have great confidence with the people in charge

i don't know who he was referring to when he said that because he also said we weren't over the cap for this year so something clearly has been done

At the moment I wouldn't put it past those in charge to ignore the directive from the NRL, and Parramatta are on -4 for the start of 2016.
It has been a successive rabble at board level , personally wouldn't object to the board being turfed out by the NRL and operating under a NRL appointed board.

So any breach of the cap in 2015, even if it's $1, will result in us starting 2016 on -4 points...

Yep, imagine all the complaining last year if had to keep semi / Paulo / Edwards / Manu ( all rumoured to be on second contracts last year) in NSW cup, or if we didn't sign a replacement hooker for Peats or if we hadnt debuted Pauli and Moeroa.

The club obviously said f**k it, let's just pick the best side and worry about it later.

That's worked last year, but I'd imagine we won't be able to do anything like that this year or we will start on -4 in 2016.

No, that's not what they said. Smith just wants an independent bean counter to have a look at the books.

Smith said however, that we're good for 2015. So it's about satisfying the NRL that we now have systems in pace which avoids situations like paying players for years after they leave and Spags giving Fui $15k for a $3k car.

Agree. I remember a thread about this a few years ago and the consensus was that we should just go over and pay the fine, rather than not play player coming through. Now everyone here are carrying on like pork chops.

The NRL release - link here http://www.nrl.com/eels-fined-for-salary-cap-breaches/tabid/10874/newsid/86425/default.aspx

Says, and I quote "The club must also ensure it does not breach the salary cap rules before 29 February 2016."

I would presume that we have already reached the 2nd tier cap, because the reason Faraimo wasn't picked was because of "2nd tier compliance issues".

So basically I'd forget about any new players getting a run if they haven't already done so.

I'd also suggest that Sandow and Paulo will return, possibly as early as this weekend.
