They've brought "the workers" down to $750/week, Govt will be paying. They've brought the "non workers" up to $550, or $600, per week, Govt will be paying.
There is the infamous "curve" they've been talking about....
I respect your opinion, I do think you may be over thinking this one a little, more power to you I suppose.
And I dont mean anything by the "non workers" quotation, it was just to show a point. I feel for everyone who has been put under enormous pressure in this situation.
I think you’re making too much out of this decision being a “Socialist” one by a Coalition Government. We are in unprecedented times. And Governments have to make unprecedented decisions. This decision is one to preserve businesses and halt unemployment sky rocketing. It’s also about keeping as much continuity as possible. It’s also about keeping mental well being amongst the population as high as possible and to create more positivity in the nation.
It’s a truly gutsy move by this Government as it tops similar moves in New Zealand & England where they are only doing something for 2 to 3 months. This is for 6 months which shows this Government is in it for the long haul and looking to keep stability in the nation that everyone can now make decisions on the back of with more confidence. The stock market has responded to the decision in a great way, the Aussie Dollar is going in an upward trajectory and the media outlets are championing the decision. Worker and business owners are championing the decision.
It’s been a fine balance in keeping the virus under control and not totally destroying the economy that would send us to a depression. I fear some Countries have gone a long way to totally destroying their economies for which they will find recovery extremely hard. Especially ones that were already badly run and already in extreme debt. If anything this Government has shown how flexible it can be with policy and it’s possible to back business and back workers and make economic sense! But trust me this decision is about preserving business as it’s core objective because without business an economy has nothing, zero, zilch! If the core objective was just to look after the worker that would be totally socialist and not sustainable and economic suicide.
