It will depend on whether a DVEC was undertaken at the time. This is an audio or video statement from the victim as soon as possible after the time the incident occurred and can be used by The prosecution in court without the victim having to attend. It can also be used even if the victim does not want to press charges on the perpetrator.

This will be a difficult case for the prosecution to prove.
What makes you so sure... are you assuming there was no evidence taken upon hospitalisation?

We didn't buy Hoffman for shits and giggles... I fear Semi might be a goner and may even change his plea on Monday.

Because historical matters of abuse are more difficult to prove. Especially if there is a lack of corroborating evidence.

Not so much these days. If a DVEC was taken then Semi is in real trouble. They have significantly increased convictions since their introduction. The thing that makes me think they didn't get an audio or video statement at the time is that it took a long time for the Police to charge him. If they had the statement they would more than likely have gone ahead with the charges at the time.

Imo we bought Hoffman because French is still developing, and will get breaks, and Guth is our first choice 6 - so regardless, we needed another back.

Le Rugbynistère is an unofficial rugby website (The Ministry of Rugby), so more like a rumours thread on here than a newspaper. But it's a worrying sign nonetheless.

Maybe the plan (by Semi's manager) is for Semi to take a guilty plea tomorrow, get let out of his NRL contract as a result, and then sign with French Union so long as they'll take him and the court case doesn't have an impact on his passport/working visa?

Rugby league star Semi Radradra is expected to appear at a Sydney court as he continues a legal challenge to allegations he assaulted his former partner in a series of violent incidents spanning several months.

The Parramatta Eels winger was questioned by police after he flew in from Fiji in July.

During a subsequent court hearing he pleaded not guilty to assault causing domestic violence-related actual bodily harm and two counts of domestic violence-related common assault.

The latter two charges relate to alleged attacks on his estranged partner, Perina Ting, in December 2014 and May 2015.

Radradra has been on bail and is listed for a hearing at Parramatta Local Court on Monday.

If you are the victim of domestic violence, or know someone who might be, please call the Crisis Care Helpline (08) 9223 1111 or free call 1800 199 008.
