He was doing well, made a try saver, added a little in attack, Karma is just trying to justify his typical cynical view of all things (bar Ben Rogers) Newcastle.

As for calling him unco for getting his head in the wrong spot, Dallas Johnson and Allan Tongue have been knocked out plenty of times and are up there with the best tacklers in the business. Not to say it wasn't poor positioning, but it happens.

Yeah I thought he was good until he went off.

Gotta fix that tackling technique, but at least he had a go unlike Dureau who missed it originally.

Had a pretty good debut for us. Made a couple of try saving tackles that Gidley would be proud of.

I thought he went well.

Got beat with a little bit of foot work by Patten but had his body on the line when it counted.

Four of those were leading the way on kick chase and one on one.

They will not be counted in the stats that matter.

His try saving tackle on Bobcat will read as only one tackle, but in the scheme of the game, may well have saved us.

Does anybody know how he is at the moment. He was knocked out cold but a good sign was that he was able to walk off and didn't need the medicab. He didn't come back on.

So Andrew Ryan's decision not to pass early and hold onto the ball and bombing a 2 on 1 by his doing so is now considered a try saving tackle by the halfback...

Ok.

Well I dont like to simplify these thing too much, but he was one on one with Scott, backed himself.

Had Scott missed, it was a try. He didnt, so it was a try saving tackle.

I cant see how you can even argue.

He would not have passed if no one was going to make a tackle.
Fortunately Dureau rushed over and did so, pressuring Ryan to pass?

Well we could go all the way back to the reason the Bulldogs even had the ball down that end after someone ruined yet another last tackle option...

But that gets far too deep.

Ryan passes, and Dureau makes the tackle on Ryan - probable try out wider.
Ryan passes, and Dureau misses the tackle on Ryan - probable try out wider.
Ryan holds the ball, and Dureau makes the tackle - no try.
Ryan holds the ball, and Dureau misses the tackle - probable try to Ryan.

You can't have it both ways. Ryan holding the ball contributed to it - but if Dureau didn't make the tackle, Ryan would have scored anyway.

Despite that - Dureau was crap.

Well yes he was pretty clearly average.

To be fair, it was a good effort in defence on Ryan. Just in the ground he covered to be there alone.

It's his job though isn't it? He defends 3 in. Ryan was his man.

It was a one on one tackle you'd expect a first grader to make.

Go back as far as you like mate, simple fact is, despite a pretty average performance, it was a try saving tackle.

To say otherwise puts you in Jobdog territory...... and we dont want that.
