Sheens Rumours

Geez I hope it is true and Sheens does come across. At least one thing will improve and that is the attack. They will play much better football win or lose. I can handle losing but not when they play so poorly.

Can't watch this pathetic attack anymore. Only scored over 18pts 4 times this season. They look clueless with the ball and do not look like they will score most of the time. They needed over 40 tackles in the Souths 20 last week to score a try and it has been like that all year.

I have seen inspired coaching, and I have seen coaches who are inspirational.

Price has yet to show me either of these things.

While I don't want to be one of the many Dragons fans calling for Prices sacking, I don't mind the idea of a Sheens coached Dragons squad.

I think Sheens, at very least, can inspire players to be better players.

Just my opinion.

Putting my fair cap on, Price does seem to be improving..very..freaking..slowly.. he seems more comfortable in the job now, but thats not exactly a glowing recommendation, im just trying to be nice.

If Sheens comes we all need to have an open mind about it, his age worries me a little, but hes articulate, intelligent, experienced, respected in the media, he has balls... its a big step in the right direction, and we can re-assess in 2yrs.

But he needs to start in the off-season, we cant waste 2014 too.

Steve price has dug his own grave. He has the fans calling for his sacking.
If he gets the sack he should thank Nathan fein and chase Stanley.

tim sheens was always the target after failing to sign bellyache .
Sheens declined coaching the dragons this year opting for some time off also to concentrate on coaching the aussies in the world cup.
Sheens will be the next dragons coach.....like it or not. ...
right now give me anyone else to coach the dragons please.

Tim sheens will get respect from the players. If Steve price is there next year, trust me these new recruits are not going to respect or listen to him

Too much criticism of Fein for my liking.
What is he supposed to do ?
He didnt select himself.
He's won a premiership, and held up the trophy for NZ.
Sure, he is in his twilight years, but he is being forced to play 80 minutes at
halfback by the coach. His legs arent made for that at his age. To blame him for
our position on the ladder is BS...
Nathan should be playing 30-40 minutes and supported by younger, faster players. He doesnt make the call, the coaching staff does.
Since Sowie left, it seems all the blame must go to Fein.
He plays whats in front of him, to the best of his ability and with 100% heart.

Price and fein are both to blame. I got no defence for either of them and for Stanley to.

So some want Sheens to be in charge of recruitment and retention, yeah?

Gets rid of Fifita et al in order to sign Blair for mega bucks
Signs Bwaith
Active in retaining Moltzen
Lets Bumji run the place to its virtual ruination.

Get ready for good times ahead Saints fans. Looks like many more years in the wilderness to me.

Haha I love how people come out on a forum and call the national coach a "myth". Having met the guy a couple times - i can assure you he is no myth, he's intelligent and has a huge knowledge of the game. Through stories over the years - I don' think anyone questions his tactical knowledge and ability to get teams playing great attacking football. Rumours were he lost the tigers squad amidst the farah / marshall nexus and the side became divided. However - we are a different club and I think he'd suit the ethos of our playing group. But hey - lets be completely honest...the only way is up. I'd say a 2 year deal would be ideal, Price has been taken off the recruitment for 2014 onwards - clearly a sign that he is treading water.

I love how people come out and say he's not....:sarcasm:

Yesterday's man with no management skills. Very egotistical is your Timmy.

yes thank you!! Australian coach for at least 2 year contract!! he will ahve our team buzzing next year!! plus he'll draw a topline forward....

Yeah because he has a long history of that.

Blair for 500k
Ellis

So in other words, he signed 1 top line forward during his time at the Tigers.

Oh that's right, he would have had Smith, Cronk, Slater, Gallen, Burgess, Graham, Scott, Lewis, Jennings etc. but he wanted to give other teams a chance

Sheens would be a tough task master, experienced who would not be the 'mate' as Price seems to be.

He was such a tough task master that he handed control of the club to Benji and Farah. He was such a tough task master that he continued to select Moltzen because he was Benji's mate.

He is also the amazing coach that constantly selected a winger on the bench.

Haha I love how people come out on a forum and call the national coach a "myth".

Haha I love how people assume that just because someone is a national coach, that they must be a good coach. Ricky Stuart and Kearney were/are national coaches, so I assume you believe they are also great coaches?

Having met the guy a couple times - i can assure you he is no myth, he's intelligent and has a huge knowledge of the game.

I love how people assume that just because they have met someone, they know what he is like as a coach.

Through stories over the years - I don' think anyone questions his tactical knowledge and ability to get teams playing great attacking football.

Attack is only half the game. He may have gotten his teams to play great attacking football, but during his time in charge, the Tigers only made the top 8 3 out of 10 times.

He has a 51.4% career winning record, and that is boosted by his time in charge of the Canberra side with Daley, Stuart, Meninga, Clyde, Lazarus, Belcher etc.

How do you know this? From what I've heard Sheens had very little say in recruitment matters over the last 3 year period that he was coach. The CEO did most of the recruiting with approval from the Tiger's Board. Much like what is going on at the Dragons these days ? only I belive Craig Young has some input. It seems to be a popular way to control funds when clubs are in financial difficulty.

I've been told that Board members and the CEO dealt directly with the players and this was the main cause of disharmony. All in all management at the Tigers was and still is a mess.

Maximus you are loving a lot - thats a good thing, great to read...ok for the record I am not on some soapbox re Sheens...I don't think he's necessarily the is the best option as coach for us, but the belligerent boildowns of keyboard experts who so piously proclaim that a man who has won 4 premierships, coached all levels of representative football on top of the 166 games as a player, as a myth or a "joke" or a hoax or whatever other narrow minded superlative you can conjure, is utterly ridiculous and just plain dumb. Just "saying something" is meaningless. Jesus - this really is testament to the republic of the internet...

Unless I am mistaken, and I'm sure someone will pick me up on this, there are only two good potential replacements for Price for the next two years - Sheens and Brian Smith. All other current candidates are contracted for 2014.

I think we should sign Sheens on a two year deal and then have another crack at Bellyache.
