DONNIE DARKO SPOILERS AND THAT

I haven't seen it for a while but I'll give it a go.

Frank (the rabbit) is sort of like a ghost from the future, a future that plays out in the movie. Frank comes back from that possible future to guide Donnie towards Frank's death and then present him with a choice - leave your room and sleep on the golf course on the night the jet engine destroys your room and live to ultimately kill Frank, or choose not to leave and die in a freak accident.

The jet engine itself is from the future, sucked through a wormhole and smashing into the Darkos place. It's a coincidence that in the future that Frank is from, it is from the plane that Sparkle Motion is on.

Frank's mission seems to be to show Donnie the chain of events that will lead to Donnie's eventual slaying of Frank. In this timeline, Donnie will rebel against his school, out the local celebrity paedophile and he'll fall in love with the girl that Frank accidentally kills. In exchange for all of this tragedy, Donnie gets to live the rest of his life.

The alternative that Donnie has to choose between is that HE dies before any of this happens, the paedo gets to keep on doing what he does, and Donnie's love (whom he won't have met by the time he dies) won't get accidentally killed by Frank. Donnie's choice is his life or his girlfriend's (and Frank's).

The stuff with the old mad woman turns out to be true. Somehow she perceives timelines in the same way Donnie can but really she's not important to the plot.

No worries, there were plenty of clues but the main one was the rabbit costume the real Frank is wearing when he dies. Early on when Donnie is 'stabbing' ghost-Frank in the mirror he's stabbing him through the same eye he ends up shooting him in.

Precious: Seemed like the story was ripped straight from a bad television movie. Was just too melodramatic, an ethnic obese unlearned sexually abused single young mother who has AIDS battles her mother in trying to get her life in order. Just screams Oscar Bait.

Juno: I've dumped on this movie enough but in short I found the quirky nature of the movie contrived & the characters pretentious. Hated the title character too, she knew she was homewrecking & yet doesn't take any responsibility.

Inglorious Basterds: Not so much 'shockingly bad' just disappointing. Too much Tarantino indulgence interfered with an amazing cast & a story that didn't come together as well as what it could have.

Exactly! How the hypocrisy of her actions weren't brought up or dealt with was crazy...

I agree with the majority that The King's Speech was in fact a great movie.

Superb performance by Colin Firth and a well written script.

The Nelson Mandela move where Morgan Freeman played Mandela.

Mandela's actual autobiography was heaps better.

Matt Damon's Afrikaans accent was dreadful. It actually made me giggle in the more 'serious' moments.

Thought it was funny how they completely dodged the fact that half the All Blacks were throwing up all over the place during that final.

um

invictus?

I think you will find that movie is actually about the rugby union world cup.

Nelson's autobiography "Long walk to freedom" is a different story...has about 60 odd more years worth of events in it...one in particular that kind of made a few headlines.

Great read.

carry on.

Just ban yourself from films. If you can't appreciate watching two of the all time great acting performances then you need to reasses your entertainment hobbies.

smfh

look it was ok - but best film of the year, about a king with a speech impediment?

FMD.
