Shockingly bad movies you watched because they won awards etc

Pfft you said any movie with Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk is destined to be full of fail. You wanted it to fail and voila, your opinion matches your predetermined views. Fair enough, you hate it, but you wanted to hate it and I'm glad to know that not many people share your views.

By exaggerating I meant you saying it's one of the worst movies you've seen in the last year, you must not watch many movies then. I don't care if your opinion differs but you make such childish complaints and if someone says they liked it, like hrundi, you have some big rant about how terrible it is for no reason.

That's pretty spot on. You should start a thesis on internet forum users.

There are plenty of people who dislike things because they're popular just on principal.

I thought Ruffalo was fantastic and absolutely spot on. He was the highlight of the film for me.

At worst it was a solid film, except if you hate superhero/action films, in which case why would you see it? In this case he should know better, or at least explain his dislike in more detail.

I'm happy to discuss with anyone why I don't like certain films.

Leave. Now.

hehe...what he said.

Again, if you feel that strongly about it, explain why. It would make this thread more interesting and provide more of a conversation.

Yes I thought Sin City was style over substance. I understand why they did what they did and it was technically very interesting, but it just didn't appeal to me. I thought it was pretty good really. I just wouldn't put it on a list of my favourite comic-based films.

basically the response I was expecting and have received it many times when expressing this opinion, you'd think I had just stabbed jesus.

watched donnie darko after being told it was the bees knees. watched it once having no idea what was going on at all. watched a second time after being told it makes more sense. I find it bland and not entertaining at all.

sorry to have offended you all.

Well there you go. There's an actual explanation of what you thought and it makes sense and you're entitled to your opinion.

I'm not sure I get your take on Little Miss Sunshine though. It's not odd at all as far as I'm concerned.

Donnie darko has a lot of deep themes running through it that most people wouldn't see and/or appreciate unless you open your mind

A true masterpiece of our time

Precious: Seemed like the story was ripped straight from a bad television movie. Was just too melodramatic, an ethnic obese unlearned sexually abused single young mother who has AIDS battles her mother in trying to get her life in order. Just screams Oscar Bait.

Juno: I've dumped on this movie enough but in short I found the quirky nature of the movie contrived & the characters pretentious. Hated the title character too, she knew she was homewrecking & yet doesn't take any responsibility.

Inglorious Basterds: Not so much 'shockingly bad' just disappointing. Too much Tarantino indulgence interfered with an amazing cast & a story that didn't come together as well as what it could have.

Th dialogue in Juno and IB is just absolutely shocking. Juno makes me cringe and I think she won an oscar for writing (lolz) and IB is just the very worst of Tarantino. He makes stylish witty films but nobody talks like a Tarantino character IN THE WORLD and it can be too much when the movie misses its goals.

So you approached a Tarantino written film thinking he wasn't going to write Tarantino characters?

Were you expecting an historically accurate WWII film?

Slumdog

Basically anything that is solely aimed at manipulating the viewers emotion gets offside with me.

I also agree Juno was terrible. Although Bateman was classic.
