Didn't really think much of Sin City...style over substance.

I enjoyed Kick Ass but I don't rate it as highly as The Avengers (who are my favourite comic characters after all).

Spiderman was solid but not as good as The Avengers, Iron Man, Watchmen etc.

I'd probably go with Avengers, Dark Knight, Watchmen, Iron Man and ...? Not sure.

X Men First Class was pretty good.

Crash - I think it won best picture oscar but it was terrible. Was like some after school special made for idiots.

I thought Scott Pilgrim was great. A very deliberately hyper-real film.

What didn't you like about it?

I'm not one for 'comicbook' based films (with the exception of anything Batman related), or similar genres, so I'm slightly biased. However, Scott Pilgrim is one of the only films that I've switched off before it finished. Not even a cute girl with a wicked hair cut could keep me interested.

Ridiculous premise and corny dialogue. And I'm usually a fan of the latter.

I don't see how you can call it ridiculous when it so obviously depicts an alternate reality based on video games. It's not setting out to be Sense and Sensibility, is it?

I thought the direction & editing was fantastic. Wright really captured the vibe of the source material & in parts, really improved on it.

However, I thought the casting was terrible. The awkward Cera as the hyper active Pilgrim - da f**k?

I can call it ridiculous, because that's simply my opinion. Not gospel ;-)

Films are entirely subjective. There isn't a critic, nor an organisation in existence whose opinion should be treated as 'correct' when it comes to films.

Blade Runner was considered a steaming pile of sh*t. But it was voted the #1 Sci Fi movie of all time last week. Beating Star Wars and the LOTR franchises.

Blade Runner - Ravaged by critics, voted number 1 Sci fi

Star Wars - Almost wasn't completed, the studio had so little faith in the movie that they gave Lucas full rights to all merchandise revenue.

Lord Of The Rings - The books were rejected by nearly every major publisher in existence at the time.

Film/Art/Music it's all subjective and comes largely down to personal taste. The reason mainstream appeals to the majority of people is that they're designed to have a bit of everything for everyone.

Besides, behind every mainstream movie is probably a little known film/comic/piece of literature that strongly influenced those big mainstream movies so it's not all bad.
