Kids are the future supporters of the club and they are entitled to see there heros recognised for their on field performances.

There is a proper way to approach the club on certain issues.

Anytime you want to question the Sharks management you can contact Greg pirece by phone or write them an email.

I dont give 2 sh*ts whether they are the future of the club. We are the MEMBERS of the club, paying our fees, pumping our funds into the club through booze, gaming, merch. etc. They AREN'T.

As for your thoughts on how to approach the club with issues, has it done anything for us in the past?? Have the same management problems that have plagued us for the past decade (at least) been solved through the odd email to a CEO? Didn't think so. The preso is the PERFECT opportunity for members to voice there concerns to management, seeing it is one of the few opportunities when people can physically be in contact with them. Just because a few kids want an overated hack of a halfback to scribble on their 2001 Jersey doesn't mean that it should take away the right of members to question the direction in which the club is heading.

That is what the A.G.M is for SS - not the football presso.

I ask this question to everyone on the forum - how many who whinge about the running of the club will be at the A.G.M to express their vote? I mean this within reason - obviously people from far away, etc.

I agree that too, but the AGM is just that - an AGM. How does one address probllems such as the poor run home during periods in between the AGM? How do we address problems in the present? The preso is, for mine, the only option, especially given the zero effectiveness of emails to CEOs and the like.

In regards to the AGM, I would like to attend, but I am not yet eligeble for voting rights. And what is the likely hood that security would be employing similar heavy handed tactics as they have been all year at the preso's?

Have a browse over the sticky re the AGM mate. If you are a general member you can vote. No waiting period, join today - vote tomorrow.

Thats a fact.

Dont forget - it was the members that voted and passed the acquisition of the biennial election - very silly IMO.

Interesting point SirShire, will they have gorillas standing over the members in the room to make sure everyone behaves and toes the line ?

Another question that I think needs answering and spider may well know the answer to this is.......if you are a football club member and NOT yet entitled to voting rights , are you still allowed to sit in the football club AGM, table issues and raise concerns in the meeting ?

My thought on the Presentation in the club is this.......If the club , staff, players and board want to create the presentation " rally" environment, where fans and sponsors can gather after matches and cheer and clap and create club spirit , then they must also cop and accept the Jeers and questions being asked if things are not going well.

You cannot dictate to the fans that they can only express GOOD vibes. I have never seen the board ask for fans to be removed for yelling out " GO GALLEN" ! or " you're a legend Presto !" for example over the years and disrupting speaches with spontaneous clapping and applause, so I cannot fathom how the club keeps a straight face and censors fans for jeering, booing, or yelling " you are out of your depth" during bad times.

Fair point within reason Beeker.

spider, i was at the 2001 AGM when the members knocked back the two year votes. I was one who was definitely against having board members put in for 2-3 years at a time. I can not recall another vote occcurring after this, it just came in. I am seriously concerned about how it came into existence at this club and have felt very strongly about this for a while. As a member you are supposed to be notified on elections by writing. I have not been notified about elections since 01. I have raised this with the club a few times and have had some strange responses

Notification can be done via the clubs noticeboard mate with a prior amount of time as indicated and noted in the constitution. I have sat on a board and realise constitutions vary, but a lot of the common ground is the same. Some clubs have over 40,000 members - too hard to notify all individually.

Fair enough, but lets be realistic about this. For as long as i can remember members have been notified by mail with a run down of every single person running and their personal achievements. Such things have even appeared in the Leader on occasions. Why has there been so much secrecy with the elections in the last 5 years if they have occured. i always keep an open eye for these, fair enough i may have missed one, but highly doubt i would have missed 3 or so

Is having a BGM even legal?

Under what act is the club incorporated?

The members voted and passed the acceptance of the BGM. Its legal if elected and documented in the constitution there after.

The one bit of legal research I've done says that the Act says every club that is incorporated must have an AGM.

What's to stop a new club of some type from forming, passing a resolution between its first ten members that it will only have a GM every 99 years, and then having this in the constitution for the rest of the club's life?

They still have the A.G.M for the acceptance of financial statements and reports - statutory requirement. But it would have been resolved that the elections were biennial.

The question needs to be asked " were members advised of the meeting where the board voted to extend the term to 2 years ?"

I received no notification , but if something was on the club noticeboard I would not have seen it.

Where is the noticeboard in the club for such notices ?
