Why would anyone with a guaranteed 4 million walk away and sign for 500k for 1 year ,you get hurt and you've lost 3 and a half million.. unbelievable.
Because you are a bit afraid to go it alone in a new direction and someone has convinced you this is the best outcome for you. Your family all agree and all that.
Basic insecurity, maybe brought about through his experiences at the roosters when they made every effort... and he took it the wrong way. Just not tough enough mentally.
Robbo and his staff only had so much time to devote to each player and if he’s not on board, what can they do? Clubs have to trust players to make concerted efforts when they are away from the training and game environment and obviously that wasn’t happening. We all know he had long breaks at the expense of his team mates and the roosters. That’s not doing your bit. Star struck at origin, his mind was elsewhere. People made excuses for him.
When they found out he was white anting the club with his embarrassing tour de contract circus- while he was still contracted, they promised him a long berth in the bears, then they told him not to come to training and finally released him.
They are probably relieved in a way because he was so high maintenance.
Robbo is an astute coach, very talented, perhaps the best in the nrl at the moment. He deserves some respect for his decisions and views. But he’s in full control, not the players. Can’t have lunatics running the asylum.
I am sure bennett will be relying upon his influencers to psych him into compliance.
That will cause the players on the outer to lose interest as they know their days are numbered. It will be in their face every day at work and they won’t warm to his moping around being ungrateful and his bullshit self obsessed victimhood antics. They won’t care less about his cultural aspirations. They need to eat.
Bunnies have enough talent to ease him in a bit at the start, but say mid year the real lats will be exposed.[/QUOTE]
Well said. [Chatting to the Souffs supporters I started wondering if we were talking about the same bloke] His attitude & temperament is being ignored as if it's not an issue. Do people think that Uncle Wayne's cuddles is all he needs for all to be well?
His attitude & sulking attitude will be the difference between a dead-set champion & an inconsistent player who goes from hero to zero depending on his mood.
Like Jarryd Hayne. His problem was he was a legend in his own mind & thought that he could get by on sheer raw talent. "People made excuses for him" also. A wrecking ball one week, to 'not in the mood today' the next.
What wasted potential.
Interesting how, when chasing the big $$$ his mantra was "I have to do what's best for my family". Now that he's taken less that's changed to "Money isn't everything". Hmmm
Mitchells teammates can only cover him to a degree with him at FB. I expect to see a winger going back to help cover a kick in defense from tackle 4 .
As another mentioned; LM is overweight & missed a large part of pre-season training.
Fullback is a specialist position that requires focus for the entire game, especially in defense.
One can't have a bludge & go missing like he did at centre or he'll be caught out.
Mitchell does not have the right attitude or temperament to play FB IMO. He's really going to find it a tough gig. Much is expected from him.
Expect to see the teams organisers reminding him to get back in position in defense. I see him being caught out with kicks. Opposition teams would be right to run him ragged with kicks.
LM is a big unit. If it's hot the first few matches he will really struggle.
Just realised that I'm starting to feel for the poor bugger a bit. He's still quite young.
Adjusting to FB. Lack of fitness & training. Heat. High expectations.
THEN once he finds his groove, around "mid year the real Lats will be exposed".
It's going to be a tough season for him.
