how hard is it to play for NZ again...? whilst i agree SBW is a freak and an unreal player...
to buy into 'he is an international for NZ' thats a joke as it is not to hard to get a start there

SBW would walk into any team in the world....

SOoperdooper, as true as it may or may not be, Dunny Bill has still played inetrnational football.

Umm.... Mateo has played for Tonga... I guess that makes him an International as well...

I'd be happy with either player in my roster. Both are freaks, Mateo gets better and better every game, I think we may have already seen the best of SBW though, too injury prone.

Mateo gets my vote just for the injury factor.

Mateo is behind John Sutton for the city selectors.

Sonny is the dogs best player each week.

really interesting poll.. I never even considered Mateo to be in the same league as Sonny Bill.
I'm a Parra supporter, but I still rate Sonny over Mateo by a bee's dick. I think his impact for the Dogs week in, week out is far too great to even consider any back-rower in the comp above him with regards to playing ability.
Mateo will continue to get better though.. whereas I think Sonny might plateau for a while now.

Gotta be SBW. Ask again in a couple of years and my answer may be different, but he's just so good at the moment, even with his injuries.

SBW missed one game this year so far with a calf strain, and last year he missed 2 games max with injuries. Him being injury prone is a myth since 2005. This thread is ridiculous...Mateo isn't even in the same class as SBW - maybe in a few years he might be but at the moment its no contest.

Last few weeks I have seen Sonny Bill make line breaks, put people through gaps with a flat pass at the line, put people through the gap with an offload, Make try saving tackles, strip the ball, score tries, set up tries, get repeat set with a deft grubber. Who said he ain't a ball player? He can do it all.

They should put the six or seven jersey on him. Not sure it would fit but without him the past few weeks the Dogs would have been in serious sh*t. Play an extra forward and drop Holdsworth.

Mateo is a good player with some time ahead of him but he isn't in the same class as SBW at the moment.

Both can do freakish things on the field though.

Anyone think SBW could do what Mateo did the other night - chip ahead - regather pass to the winger for a try - when behind on the scoreboard?

Sensational stuff. Not saying SBW isn't good - just very different players.

I voted Mateo last time this poll was ran and i stand by that
both fully fit and in form, SBW is the better player, but for value for money, you get far more with Mateo, with mateo you still get a very damaging forward with unbelievable offload abilities, but you also get a more versitile player, albeit only slighty, but the kicker is you get mateo for 26 rounds a year and for probably 3/5ths the price
as opposed to SBW who you get for half a year tops for nearly double the cost

Oh dear, i had a feeling this thread would re-appear.

Seems it only takes a chip and re-gather for it to do so every time.
