The problem is Gold Coast and Brisbane are in South Queensland so was never a good name.

Logic would suggest Gold Coast/Scenic Rim team then an Ipswich/Logan/Lockyer Valley/Toowoomba team then a Brisbane /Redlands/Moreton Bay team.

But hey logic plays no part in these discussions, Hence St George Illawarra and WestsTigers.

Im not so sure about new teams just trying to fit into the unused space. Seems better for them to try to come in over the top of established teams and claim the same areas. (Otherwise you just get the niche teams like Manly/Cronulla stuck in tiny areas between much bigger clubs)

No team should ever just let fans go to other teams without some fight. And the competing for the same area is the perfect way to begin a new rivalry, ("this is Broncos territory" "Nah, f*ck you. this is Crusher territory", etc)

If new clubs come in and pick names based on teams that have come before, they should be trying to diminish the existing teams. EG, the next SEQLD team could come in a distainfully brand the Broncos as "Brisbane CITY" and leverage that as a "the Broncos dont care about regional SEQLD" or "NSWRL Broncos; they killed the Brisbane RL, grrrrr"

To me, calling a club "South Queensland" is a declaration that "WE are the major club here. Brisbane City Broncos and Tweed Titans are f*ckin nothing"

Fight for the same area and just establish the contrast.

Brisbane Crushers sounds better than South East Corridor Crushers, tbh.
Good name for a team.

Incidentally what is a crusher?? I vaguely remember the crushers having a train in their badge on their shirts.

Also did they have a mascot and if yes what was it?

Yes that was the problem, the name.

Scenic Rim would be a much better alternative.

Quality contribution as usual, ever post an idea or thought of your own or do you just snipe away at every body.

The point being is these areas should have clubs associated with junior clubs, schools, councils and communities in the area visit the hospitals, run clinics etc etc etc

If you have Brisbane and Brisbane who is associated with what juniors, what schools which council, what communities do they support?

Brisbane once had all of Queensland as juniors, then the Cowboys came and North Queensland has all the above sorted. Gold Coast already has it area of Gold Coast and Scenic Rim.

Queensland rugby league has benefited from Brisbane doing all of Queensland to having three clubs sharing the load.

Where does South Queensland even end? Sunshine Coast? Bundaberg? Rockhampton?

What do North Queensland consider thier southern border?

I dont understand the attachment to the idea of RL clubs carving out areas that "belong to them" that no one else can enter into...

I understand why, for example, the Cowboys would stay North of Rockhampton and the Broncos South of there, but that should be more about the tyranny of distance and spreading resources too thin. If there are 2 clubs in Brisane or for any of the clubs currently in Sydney, there shouldnt be any limit on which schools clubs can connect with.

The only reason to not have a centralised junior system run by the ARLC is for competition between club providers, but that only works if there is overlap between the clubs.

So, if the Broncos are being lazy in any areas, an new Brisbane team can come in and pick up all the fans and juniors.

Do you have an example?
Eg NBA in the state of Cali alone-
Los Angeles Lakers,
Los Angeles Clippers,
Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings. Two teams with the same name- yuk, one team representing the whole state? Yuk.
Also in the MLB they have the Houston Texans, AND the Texas Rangers...

It would be like a having a team from Wellington, but still calling them the NZ warriors- which was the dumbest idea from the start, a team repping a whole country...
Actually, more like having the Brisbane2 team and calling them Sunshine State Bombers...

Refers to crushing sugar cane

It was a train, again in reference to the trains that carry the sugar cane.

Basically represents Bundaberg QLD

A lot of QLD had/has sugar cane fields and cane loco's notably in NQ.

As mentioned about 100 times Crushers would have been a great name for the Cowboys and fit with the region better

Brisbane Crushers has a nice ring to it

Brisbane Bulls
Brisbane Kings
Brisbane Reds (logo a kelpie)
Brisbane Boars :boar:

They’re are plenty of good options for Brisbane2. I know it’s been said many times but SQ is too vague and there needs to be an option for Brisbaners other than the Broncs

Why not put the area second to be different.
Like Red Brisbane or whatever.
Or Crimson West Brisbane. I like that.
