Run the ball, learn how to tackle and show some heart would have been a good start.

How often do you see halfs running the ball when their forward pack is being constantly dominated? Luckily he doesn't have that problem this season. Seems like he has learnt how to tackle too. Guess it was nothing a bit of decent coaching couldn't fix. Shame for the dragons fans that their club decided to rebuild itself in Steve Price's image.

We'll see how he goes when the big games come around.

We will. Certainly question marks across the Penrith side until we hit the big teams. Until then we can concentrate on continuing to improve. While Soward is happy and confident he'd be my last worry though. We know he can perform in big games.

Yeah, Soward has never won any big games before, has he?
Don't know why your being so defensive. Simply saying that a guy who at times has been known to be mentally fragile and go missing has a big responsibility when the big stuff comes around playing for a team that hasn't experienced the "big games" for a while.

While there are plenty of George fans happy to see Soward succeed after all he has given their club, there are also those death-riding him in order to feel justified after placing the blame for the dragons recent woes squarely on his shoulders.

He was one of the elite halves in the competition while Wayne Bennett was his coach. Then Steve Price takes over, his side loses a lot of the better players and a shadow of the side it was the previous few years, and suddenly all that is his fault?

The way I see it, he has played good football when playing under decent coaches in decent teams. His football under those circumstances has ranged from good to great. Those coaches being Bennett and now Cleary.

Put any half in a terribly coached team (Steve Price), with a terrible halves partner (Nathan Fien who was a decent hooker), a weak forward pack (Lost all the enforcers and turned into the softest pack in the competition), average at best hooker, average at best fullback and nowhere near first grade standard centres. What halves are still going to look good in that team? I would back Thurston, Cronk and DCE to struggle in the same circumstances aswell.

He has won a grand final and lit up the competition for 3 years while being coached by Wayne Bennett. He went missing for 2 years while the Dragons were suffering under Price, and the club lost many of the star players that were big parts of their success. He's now under Ivan Cleary and looks more like the player he was under Wayne Bennett.

I'm not sure he is capable of his form under Wayne Bennett again. But he's clearly still a quality playmaker when he is part of a decently coached team with quality players around him. His kicking game looks as good as ever and he's even running the ball when he sees an opportunity and he's defending better then he ever has before.

"Suddenly all that is his fault" is very dramatic ??

If they have blamed him then they are looking in the wrong place.

He took all the blame and his reputation as a player suffered as a result. Hardly dramatic since he is still copping criticism for things he had no control over. He's a quality player and has more form that proves he is quality then he does that proves otherwise.

Why are people saying lets see how Penrith and Soward go in the big games against better teams??

Aren't the Bulldogs the form team of the NRL? Did the Panthers not beat them? With great thanks to Jamie Soward???
