How about someone in the area plays some footy on it. And then when old mate tries to do something about it, send an email to a sensationalist rag like the DT and watch the shitstorm unfold. If nothing else it will be entertaining.

I'd be happy to bet a tenner that the DT will be there tomorrow with some 8 year olds having a game of Rugby League. The headline writes itself.

is it the same as Monty Bennett Oval?

Not sure of the name. The cricket field nearest the great Western Highway is the turf pitch I saw. The league field has sidescreens behind the posts so sometype of cricket must be played their. Either way dogs were being walked joggers stretching on the footy field. So no exclusive rights there

Make sure you have a screwdriver in your car so you can remove a sign like this anytime you see one.

It's completely absurd.

I'll stick a 'play rugby league' sticker on it.

Those ABC snobs were having an AFL love fest yesterday. Deborah Cameron (ABC Sydney) was fielding calls from AFL tragics rabbiting on about how the fumbleball is taking over when a gutsy lady from Appin called in to say that isn't exactly true. She said the kids at her local school wanted a crossbar added to the posts that the AFL put on the field and that they all wanted to play rugby league not AFL.

It clearly says AFL oval. AFL being the league thje top teams play in. Therefore only games featuring those teams in that competition can be played there.

That's what I was just thinking. Can't play junior or local Australian rules football on it. AFL only.

So is that wher GWS are going to play their games? The stands look about big enough to cope with the crowds...

I would urge everyone who lives in an area where this sort of dictatorship reigns to write letters of protest to their council and theraten to vote them out.

If someone did this in my area - Strathfield I would lodge my protests (legally) to these motherf**kers.

By the way anybody share my view of being overgoverned?

That sign has been up for 25 years, I laugh at the way the media are suddenly turning this into a story.

That sign does not look 25 years old and I have never seen such a sports exclusive sign before either.

How could that sign be 25 years old when "AFL" is only 21 years old?

or are you talking AFL shit again Slips?

Surely with the wit I see displayed on game banners some "artist" could add his graffitti adaptation to the signs! :)
