Yeah courageous beating Pakistan after they were forced to play 5 back to back tests and a couple of players out

losing a test to WI isn't a good look either

beating SL and India in tests at home is hardly courageous stuff, SL attack is grade standard at best, Indias aint much better

NZ the brave

Honestly, I don't mind this sort of trolling at all, but the mind boggles as to what does and doesn't constitute trolling around here.

Anything remotely critical of an Australian - except Brayshaw, Maxwell, Siddle, and Warne (obvious character flaws only) is trolling - everyone else is fair game...

To be clear, as blatantly trollish as the post was, I think its fine- just standard, garden-variety (if not a little on the boring side) forum raillery. Just seen far more innocuous stuff vanish.

Watling is a much better lower order batsmen in ODI than he is an opener (which is where he's played most of his ODI cricket). But I'm happy with Ronchi over Watling in ODI's. I feel like Watling has been rubbed out of ODI cricket on account of the England series (in NZ). From memory, he was Anderson's bunny.

Yep, agree - but clearly they want hitting power there, so Ronchi is a good idea. Even if he got hurt, I wonder if the captain, or Latham would keep.

The really tough call is which pace bowlers to leave out - I am assuming Southee and McCleghnahan are certainties, but any of Mills, Boult, Henry or Milne could miss out. Despite his performance against Pakistan I suspect it will be Henry.

The Black Caps have definitely worked towards ODI and test specialists (Rochi/McClenaghan/Mills etc. vs Watling/Wagner/Craig). I think its a good idea, while there are players who are up to both formats this way you keep half the team fresh without adjusting between the game styles.

For once in a million years we have the luxury of depth and its being used wisely.

You gotta remember Ronchi is very hot and cold, while he maybe in some sort of form now, he can just simply lose it which is why he was pretty much ignored for Oz.

Hopefully for you guys he can be a bit more consistent.

Yeah, we've seen that already, he's been good recently.

If he goes real cold in the WC, I trust they will have the balls to give the gloves to Latham, or even McCullum

Good to get Prasad quickly, now the real stuff begins - Boult will have to be at his best here

Nightwatchmen gone early, I wonder if Sangakkara will have a go at the chase or stonewall instead

I suspect he'll just bat normally and assess later in the day - he can always accelerate if set - he and Matthews are key, draw or NZ win seems most likely, but all 3 possible

Wow McCullum went for an ambitious review, possibly a faint edge on snicko but nothing else?
This could be controversial

Given out! That could be the game right there, wish I had more than the cricinfo commentary to look at.

Sounds like nothing was visible in real time or hot-spot and only snicko had a noise.
Sangakkara apparently upset about it, he's not one to whinge without a point

DRS is supposed to overturn a decision only when there is clear evidence against the umpires call, doesn't seem like there was any hard evidence here to overturn the not out decision. That would be really annoying for Sri Lanka & Sanga

I haven't seen it either, but this is the issue with the DRS tbh - he might well have nicked it, but doesn't sound like an obvious error

Reminds me of a Doug Bollinger incident vs Kemar Roach to snatch a test win which almost ended up a massive upset. There was zero noise, nothing on hot spot, yet somehow DRS turned it over and Australia won.

This isn't as bad as that but its still the tool being used incorrectly, it is supposed to overturn howlers and the rest should sit with the umpires call

Too bad, there is no way they'll chase the target now.

On the radio they were claiming that they saw a faint hotspot

Sri Lanka never stood a chance when they let those 2 merkins get a 8 billion run partnership, they shouldn't have even bothered turning up today.
