Doull is proposing that we take no-balls away from the onfield umpires. This bloke is the Mark Geyer of cricket.

Seems they aren't that interested in them on field, so he might have a point.

But then, he does have the IQ of a turnip, so I suspect not

I love his pre delivery routine, nice variety in the number of those arm movements - that with his stature reminds me of Boon who had that sequence of adjustments to his protective gear prior to every ball

Thirimanne seems to have dropped anchor - we get a couple and it's game on

Good knock by the wee fella, Silva

Top wicket. Nice catch by Craig. He and Neesham look to be great slippers

If we get this bloke cheap, we are well on our way to a win

They're already taken away from on-field umpires as JJ mentioned, no umpire ever checks it now unless there is a dismissal. Its really bizarre how this is even allowed to continue.

NZ all over this now, theirs to lose. What a remarkable comeback.

on field umpires have called plenty of no-balls on non-dismissal balls in this Test. Should they abdicate that responsibility?

Umpires have gotten lazy enough, make them work for their money ffs

May as well have robots for umpires the way we are going

The Indians wont have that... but they seem to view bowling and catching as an optional extra anyway, so who knows

Doull was talking about how difficult it was (drawing on his experience umpiring as a player in lower grade cricket) to shift your attention from the front foot to the action at the other end of the wicket?never mind that we've done ok for 100+ years with the umpire doing it as is.

I stand corrected in that case, in general though its amazing how often we go upstairs now to check the front foot and batsmen get recalled because of it. Was it not checked during the delivery? How many no-balls are being let go without anyone noticing?

Personally I don't mind seeing it automated to be honest, let the umpires concentrate on the impact of the delivery. I'm always a fan of using technology (sensibly of course)
