Fair point. Hopefully when they meet again in the Top 8s they can get a few more through the gate.
The Super 8 attendances will be interesting. Play-off crowds have been absolutely terrible in the past few years which is one of the things that prompted the change of system. Be interesting to see if momentum picks up once we get to that stage or if interest drops off again.

But Super 8 matches are a part of the season tickets for most clubs, right? Should make a massive difference.

Matches at this stage of the season aren't ever likely to sell out, casual fans are probably saving money for the Magic Weekend, possible Challenge Cup appearances etc. There's a lot going on.

Lame excuse. We keep getting told this is the biggest game in British RL yet they can't crack 16,000! Biggest derby in SL.

15,500 at Saints/Wigan tonight. Am I expecting too much when I say, they should have been able to sell out (18,000) this fixture? Surely it's their biggest match of the season, of regular rounds.

Leeds got a similar crowd v cas on a thursday night so it says more about saints fans than anything. Remember this is the club who couldnt sell out its old trafford allocation because they could not take losing grand finals against leeds year after year. Poor effort by saints fans

A Saints fan on the TRL forum claims they only ever sell out Langtree Park for a game against Wigan if the match is played on Good Friday believe it or not.

...which is true. Both Good Friday derbies at Langtree Park have sold out weeks before the game. The last one not played at Easter got just over 14,000, this one closer to 17,000. Same with Wigan who only ever sell out this game with the aura of Good Friday. Learn your facts before you mock.

I'm not sure how knowledgeable you are about Super League given that you appear to be predicting Warrington to be champions, but if you knew anything, you would be aware that Saints fans are amongst the most loyal in the game. They took over 20,000 to Old Trafford (treble their number of season ticket holders) and this despite losing, as you say, five grand finals in a row. St Helens is a quite small working class town with high unemployment and low disposable income, the fact that their crowds are as high as they are is a credit to the club.

Yet two crap teams from Hull can get 20,000 on a Thursday night.

So unpredictable this year. If the super 8s is as close as the home and away rounds it will be a huge finish to the year. Would be looking at some big crowds post split i would think.

I'm honoured that you actually researched the attendance Jon. Imagine the crowd if the Hull teams were second and third in the league and not battling to stay out of the bottom four?
