So wife had epidurel. She ended up having side effect where the spinal fluid is flowing incorrectly (butch, help me out here - you will know better) so they performed a blood patch, which has an 87% chance of working.

It didn't. Back to the ER to have her scheduled in for another, which apparently works better the second time around.

While I have confidence things will work out, I would be lying if I didn't say I am beginning to get scared now.

My thoughts are with you, mate.

Modern medicine is wonderful, though - I'm sure your wife is in great hands.

This is old news, but....What in the world is wrong with people? I just read an article from Loudwire saying that Joey Jordison won the Greatest Metal Drummer Tournament.

Now, he isn't bad - in fact, he's fairly talented. But he beat blokes like Danny Carey, George Kollias, Tomas Haake, and web Dave Lombardo.

And to top it off, Mike Portnoy and Chris Adler weren't even in the comp.

Bugger. That's very, very unlucky. If she having headaches, vision problems or anything on-top of the spinal fluid issue? Epidural headaches are very common.

Yeah, the wife had a cracker headache afterwards.
Thankfully it cleared before we left the hospital 3 days later.
She said it hurt like a rusty knife to the pancreas.

Hope the second patch gets the job done drew!

Epidurals do have risks and few people know about it until crunch time.

Oh dear, that wasn't quite what I wanted to read. Really sorry for your wife. Today I have an operation scheduled which calls for two epidural blocks. I have to have it this way as the medical folks believe my heart won't stand a general (damaged from a heart attack in '05).

To be fair though, they have explained every potential side effect of the block. Goodness, there are some doozies as well. I either have it done this way or lose my leg.....a no brainer really. Happy days.

Wow Drew sorry to hear that Mrs Drew isn't doing so well

I did some research and this explains it pretty well

http://www.patient.co.uk/health/headache-after-an-epidural-or-spinal-anaesthetic

Having a new baby is stressful enough even if things go to plan

I know you must be feeling a bit powerless to help your wife right now but from what I can see blood patches work well to correct your wife's condition

lol expecting a sensible judgement on metal from a mainstream mag. Let me guess, the finals were between Slipknot, SOAD, Disturbed and Metallica? :sarcasm:

Sully Erna and Roger Taylor would be up there if versatility were a major factor.

But it seems they just wanted fast, which is just wankery, because that'd mean Lars Ulrich could've got a mention, and while I love Metallica, he's not that great.
