When I went, in the court room, the judge asks you if for what he deems a valid reason, you want to be excused. Some guy stepped forward and said that his aunty died (that morning) and wanted to attend the funeral in 2 days. The judge allowed it.

In all all though, you have a 12/100 chance of being selected, and even then, if you look shifty, the lawyers can 'object' to you being on the jury meaning you get off. If you don't make the cut for jury duty by simply not being selected (rather than being excused), then you will be off the jury roll for at least 1 year guaranteed.

My dad used to dress up in a suit and look especially 'conservative' in his appearance. He's never done jury duty. Lawyers want people who are sympathetic; don't look sympathetic and you'll get out of it.

I actually didn't mind if I got selected, but considering I got $100 for sitting in a room all day drinking tea and coffee, I feel that I robbed the tax payer :lol:
