I'm of the view that it went back and then bounced forward. Lui's body was facing towards his own goal line. As far as I'm aware, unless you bat the ball back over your head, you can't knock the ball on when your facing your own in goal line.

This is how this sort of situation was explained to me a while back by someone who would know. Having said that, I didn't think it was an awful call (albeit likely wrong). The SBW one was the real shocker.

Again, not that much Cowboys whinging, in the press or on here, but the trolls will continue.

Thurston fluffed it, again. Should have taken the field goal with 7minleft but another last tackle poor decision.

I laughed when the cows had that terrible set on the chooks line then thurston put a horrible grubber in which was cleaned up easily a few meters off the roosters line and Gould said 'what a great ending to the set by thurston'.....

Seriously wtf??

The biggest disappointment from this is that due to the crappiness of the teams left (including mine) and the inconsistency of the Roosters, the cow boys have handed souths a premiership.

That's my thinking too

Souths will belt the roosters, the cows would have been a real chance if they turned up before the 30th minute last night

You have no idea what you are talking about. Roosters starting forwards tore the cows a new one in the first 30, and once again managed to dominated the last 20 despite all the pressure. It was only our useless bench and brain explosions from Mini and the refs which gave the cows a sniff.

It will all be sorted next week. Roosters will be back to full-strength for first time in a while. Souths overweight forwards will be calling for oxygen masks at the backend of the game.

f**k the Lui incident. the officiating was awful again last night.

what gets me is how touchies just stand there most games clutching their flags as if theyre gripping their c**ks while watching the game like a supporter as if they're watching internet porn, but then one decides he's going to step up in a major final.

many touchies should be able to rule on forward passes every week. many should be able to be in the correct position to rule on this, but most are overweight 40yo's who can't keep up anywhere near play and just get a thrill being on the field in an NRL match.

and the obstruction was awful. but like a lot of merkins in fandom, the refs considered that the play didn't lead to a try so it wasn't considered important.

4 sets of eyes officiating a rugby league game each week, and important decisions are wrong each week, or made with no conviction because the they rely on the video ref to get it right.

get rid of this two ref malarky, and get touchies to be integral to all the decision making on the field. if something happens close to the sideline or he sees a pass go forward, then he raises his flag and calls it f**kin!!

I'm jack of this game being officiated into the grave.

The biggest problem is that in tight games, and especially finals, a penalty will never get called in the last 10minutes. If the skw shepard happens in the first half it gets called up without a second thought. When has an offside penalty EVER been given in the last 10 minutes? Even though this is when teams are reguarly 2-3ms offside as they know nothing will ever be done about it.

The officials have made the problem for themselves by wanting to 'let the players decide the game' when in actual fact they are doing the complete opposite by not correctly officiating during crucial stages.

Don't count those chickens yet.

They still have to overcome the hurdle of being Souths.

A small, but obvious knock-on.

North Queensland should have no complaints. They were woeful in that first half and should never have been in that position if they'd aimed up.

We lost that game in the first 30mins. No excuses. Great game, well done (but f$&@ you) chooks.

End of story.

Yep. Can't give up 30 in a semi and expect to walk away happy.
Thurston is a phenomenal footballer, a genius when he's on. What a pleasure it is to watch him play.
He plays for the Easts Gyngells last night and they win by 80.
Great and exciting game, shit result.

People are focusing on the SBW penalty.

But the Cowboys had an equally appalling one, AND the most blatant forward pass ever, leading up to one of their tries.

And then the next try, Mini is taken in a blatant mid air tackle.

These two shocking sequences got the Cowboys back into the game. And yet people will conveniently overlook them. Amazing.

We got some lucky calls at the end. The SKD shepherd being the main one. But holy f**k we were due after the shit that dragged the Cowboys back into it.

You will find a half dozen forward passes from dummy half not pinged in just about every game, every weekend. That is a fact.

Exactly. And people are whinging about someone scoring a couple of plays after one is let go.

So you agree it was forward? Thanks for supporting my argument.

Besides, there's 'forward' and then there's 'blatant Gridiron pass'... the one last night was the latter.

I would honestly not be surprised if JT retires at the end of next year for no other reason other than he's fed up.

Well as immense as JT was, he had the game in his hands and blew it - after his line break, kicking to the corner and out instead of seeing Morgan inside and clear.

Yes I agree it was forward. But you seem to missing the subtle point I am trying to make?

People banging on about the forward pass, happens all the time both ways. Its part of the game nowadays. Decisions swing in both directions one week a side will be on the right side of the 50/50 calls, the wrong side other weeks.

The Lui knock on, on the other hand was a 50/50 call. If it had have been awarded try on the field, Cows win the game. Simple. But the scoreline of 31-30 is on today's fish and chips wrapper.

Good luck to the Roosters next week.

You also say that he "extends his arms backwards past his own feet to grab at the ball". On the balance of probabilities, if he is extending his arms BACK past his feet, wouldn't that cause the ball to be propelled backwards!

Good god. What?

So you're saying if someone's extending their arms back past their feet, the ball has to be propelled backwards hahahahaha? So if i extend my arms backwards and try to flick the ball towards my body (IE FORWARD) it goes backwards? It can but it probably doesn't

How about you stand up, reach your arm backwards and try to grab an imaginary ball by flicking it towards your head. Tell me whether or not the ball can go forwards. OF COURSE it does

Jesus christ some of you blokes have no logic
