When's the last time a player got sent off for an incident related to the actual play?

Not talking about punches being thrown etc, but something related to a tackle or whatever .. was it all the way back when Hopoate got sent for elbowing Galloway in the head, Manly v Cronulla at Brookvale?

Maybe Sonny Bill Williams, Round 1 2007 when he took Andrew Johns block off.

Imagine if it was Gallen or Ross ragdolling the Cherry or Snake instead of Williams on Degois.

I have a sneaky suspicion neither of those would of remained on the field.

Infact I am sure of it.

Matt Utai in 2006? Against Wests Tigers.

**There you go, just saw another post for MOney Bill in 2007. My bad**

dear manly fans...remember when you merkins beat us when Douglas got sent off for far far far less than this?

well...each and everyone of you can tongue the unwiped anus of defeat .

Problem is he will probably be back in time to play the sharks again.

but like I said ..tongue away.

Haha I'm also pretty sure most people on here calling for 10 weeks (or more) would be on here laughing about them doing it.

Bad tackle. Too long a penalty in my opinion.

The only justice would be to have a Manly player hit with a similar tackle and see if Manly supporters claim that the suspension isn't fair.

It was intentional - if he hadn't lost grip of DeGois, Williams would have slammed him head first into the ground.

I dont agree. If he had not lost his grip, De Gois would have landed on his chest face down with T-Rex on his back

It deserves the grading it got. Theres a very simply way of looking at it. The outcome could have ended one blokes career on the spot. So 7 weeks for that sort of tackle is not that high a price to pay.

He should have definetaly been sent off too, but referee's have become way too gun shy to make send off decisions because of the scrutiny on decisions they make by coaches and newspapers.

Good to see how much a round 3 win means to you. Keep a copy of the game to watch in the off season, it might make you happy while some of us are watching our teams play in the finals.

I think Carch is bringing attention to the fact that Douglas got sent off for a nothing tackle compared to this, yet T-Rex stayed on.
He should've been sent plain and simple.

FTR I think he should've gotten 5 weeks.
But as Gordie says - what good does that do Cronulla?????

Meh. No team will go close to being undefeated this season, Manly is no exception. I'd prefer to lose a game by 3 points than get flogged. It might be a highlight for you but it's really not that big a deal. Sorry to disappoint you.

Civinoceva's swinging arm v Bulldogs back in '10 is the last I can recall.

This has been a point of discussion for quite some time but it is one the NRL refuse to address. All teams have been on the end of it at some stage, with players being suspended only for the teams they play in subsequent weeks to gain the benefit.
