FFS!!!!
Why is it that we cant attract a major leisure company associated with water? Think about the association we have with location & the logo.
ripcurl
Rythm
Alvey
Quintrex
mercruiser
Cant we find a why to tie it all in?
FFS if Parra can get sponsored by a hydraulic hose company for a million a year for many years , surely there is something the Sharks can do for a leisure/water craft company?

Dont take that as im having a go at anybody either. I just cannot see why the Sharks are not attractive to one of those organisations.
For instance, I would like to know how many league supporting men(& women) use boating &/or fishing products?

I hear what your saying Reefy but for mine the answer is right before us..we dont have a brand. I mean, what images are conjured up in your mind when you think about the Sharkies? What qualities do we stand for? Fluffy stuff I know but that's the sort of shit that major sponsors look at.

But do you hear what Im saying Newman. Hisense is a product that will touch nearly every Australian, however the takeup of that product from a very crowded market would be low, from sponsorship.
So is there any data on something like Shimano?( Im also assuming that is fishing, not gears?) & the correlation to rugby League supporters?
FMD Shimano Sharks just even sounds right!!!

Totally. Hi-sense got in at a fire sale price and now want to pay less, not more for the space.

Considering the sharks demographic, I agree that our brand would seem to match well with an active, youth focussed brand as a partner and the "coastal" spin is something we should be leveraging. Billabong, rip curl, quikky, red bull/v/monster...... Problem is, those brands marketing and sponsorship spend goes heavily into other markets (surf comps, car races).

Nike is an interesting one. Through their 6.0 range and Hurley they are trying to get into the surf market. There is obviously a more traditional athletic cross over too.

Hisense wanted a billboard to expose the hitherto unrecognised name. They got a cheap one with us. The sponsorhsip being discussed here is a different propsect. I dont know why we keep talking about the Sharks brand. No one can tell me what it is. The supporters might think fondly about the club but everyone else thinks we are broke also rans. Why would a corporate associate themselves with that? Think about the sponsors that we have had in the past and more importantly when we had them. When we were successful we had big brands, Reebok, Pepsi. When we stunk up the place our sponsors weren't so well known, cleanaway, aussieduct...you know what i mean. If i were looking for sponsors i'd be looking at someone who is a clean skin regenerating themselves the same way the Sharkies are.

Monster makes the most sense to me and has for years given how they get into sport.

Trend Micros retail boss is a massive tigers fan hence they got involved and kaspersky would have been a good vendor. Perhaps McAfee or Symantec with their millions

Which is why we should not be taking games to places like Adelaide and NZ, but instead focus on coastal cities like Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour, Byron Bay.

I get the impression we are looking at a camel and talking about a horse! The brand isnt the kick ass logo on the jersey. It is everything that goes into making the product (delivery, quality, integrity, support and success). Good sponsorhip relationships are symbiotic (both partes benefit) unless they just want a billboard. If so we will be treated like the lonley roadsign with rent me plastered on it! I reckon we need a corporate sponsor that we can draw guidance from and they can promote the processes and systems that got them to where they are. I mean FFS we have a skeleton staff working their arseoles off to keep us alive. A sponsor that has gone through the same thing, and come out the other side successfully with a sound brand as a result is what we want. What has location of games got to do with that?
