And when the next asada or salary cap issue etc hits they'll get another reprieve till when, 2017?
Apparently despite all the staff and cash the NRL can't deal with all the shit the game inevitably produces and grow the sport at the same time. If that's the case there will be no growth anytime in the future. Of course if they spent more time on development and less time f**kng with the rules and brain farting ideas like drafts they might get something done.
Can't agree more on this.
After a few years to evaluate, it looks like we've got an NRL who is big on image and low on substance. I feel like every change is made with the game's "image" in mind, with the actual game itself either being ignored or worse, negatively impacted.
Samoa is the current flavour of the month, thanks to some good coaching and hard work - no thanks whatsoever to the NRL who are happy to jump on the publicity. Meanwhile Tonga PNG Fiji Cook Islands won't play a game this year, and Australia will be sitting the next international season out. Country RL and developing states are largely ignored.
Big, big fines for anyone critical of the NRL or it's staff - Gallen, coaches criticising refs. It's a bad look for the game, but is the root of the problem attacked? No. Everyone keep quiet or you'll be forced to.
Rule changes as reactionary as they ever were with little to no thought of the consequences. The shoulder charge gone because it's a bad look, never mind the soft as butter penalties that have resulted. Inconsistent penalties more dependant on media reaction than the actual act committed. The 7 tackle sets implemented because ??????????????????????????
I see an administration who is painting a rosy picture on the outside. To grow a game through image rather than hard work, external promotion rather than internal growth.
I need to work out how to get myself from shitty software developer to CEO of an international sport, I'd sort these merkins out
