We should show him the door. I'm sick of this everyone-gets-an-upgrade mentality that we seem to have. We need to draw a line in the sand at some point. Have no faith that we will, though.

We need more seniority for next season. Our youngsters are going to need a pack leader for the whole team structure to work. Not so sure our talent in the juniors is going to last either. I think the Tinkler vision while frustrating was the right way. He certainly provided the scouts to unearth our current talent pool. We had Mulholland and Murray and now have had to go back to less qualified individuals. The in the shadows board are making me nervous. Seems like they are playing status quo. Hypothetically if Tinkler showed he had learnt from his mistakes and paid people on time and had money physically able to back all the hyperbole would you take him back? A highly unlikely thing but do you see any other chance of us becoming a force ever again? He supposedly is rebuilding a brick at a time.

Now that it seems Walshy is on his way home and Gids, Scott and BJ are all on their way out - I'm thinking;

1.Jake Mamo
2.James McManus
3.Sione Matautai
4.Dane Gagai
5.Aku Uate
6.Jarrod Mullen
7.Luke Walsh
8.Kade Snowden
9.Danny Levi
10.
11.Tariq Sims
12.Robbie Rochow
13.Korbin Sims

14.Adam Clydedale
15.Jack Stockwell
16.
17.

We need a prop or 2 and a junior/reserve grader to really kick on

I've just said on a different thread that I have heard that Sam Anderson, our NYC 2011 Player of the Year and More recently Panthers NSW Cup player of the year is off contract at the end of the season and would love to come home to play. He's a strong compact front rower witha massive ticker who can play big minutes, we would get him for reasonable money and at 24 yrs old he's just getting into his prime as a prop. Another we should be playing in NRL every week is Tyler Randell. He's made for NRL,tough as nails and can fill many positions in the pack and the backs.

Does anyone else want to see Brian Smith back next year??

Obviously not as coach, but i reckon him in the director of coaching role (Where Hagen is ATM) is exactly what the club needs at this point.

He was brought in to clear out the deadwood and was moved on before he could finish. I reckon, away from the head coaching role and without the weekly win-loss drama around him, he could really do this club some good.

Id take him but the general run of the mill knights fans will riot.

Really?? i was under the impression he was actually well liked towards the end of his run here...

'08 and '09 (aside from the goodbye), everyone seemed pretty happy with him (and actually seemed a bit upset that he left so soon).

Then again, i dont like in Newcastle, so i guess id only get the filtered version...

A lot of fans didn't like Smith because he got rid of a heap of locals (most were rubbish anyway) and replaced them with imports. A lot he bought were some great pickups (Taia, Vuna, De Gois, Hilder, etc) who fit into the Newcastle area and played with as much passion as any local ... but some fans are just fickle like that.

The only bad call Smith made I thought was getting rid of Buderus. Other than that I was a big fan of his here.

I like Smith but too many moron inbred fans are still dirty that he punted local superstars likely Reegan Tanner, Brad Tighe, Adam Woolnough, Riley Brown, etc then you have the news limited agenda against him which the moron fans treat as gospel. Anyone remember that Sarah Maddison letter? If that wasn't the most unethical piece of gutter journalism I've ever seen I don't know what is

Bloke is one of the most spectacular failures in the NRL. That Parra side should have made us their bitch in the 2001 Grand Final and he couldn't coach them when it mattered. Hasn't had any success anywhere regardless of his position. His role at Wests last season was clearly a play to get himself into the coaching position; be signed to assess the situation, give Potter a bad report to get him booted and have the new board put him in there. His resume would be nice except that everything he does nose dives at some point. I'm counting the days until he attempts some other Game of Thrones-esque play to get Taylor boot.

This isn't coming from the media drive against him or influenced by other fans, it's fact and you're quite simply desperate and delusional to think he's even worth a punt at the club in any position whatsoever. The further away Brian Smith remains from Newcastle and really any other club the better. Whatever changes he would bring to the club in any position would leave us with one inevitable result; nothing.

There's no doubt Smith can rebuild a team from the ground up, though. He has proven that at a number of clubs. I always felt we were improving more and more under him despite history showing he tends to rub teams the wrong way after a couple of years.

I was disappointed we lost him but that's in the past. Still have faith that Stone will do well.

We don't get them either.

Our best hope is have a gun field goal kicker to take a shot every time we get over the 50.

I should be coach.

I will add

Only Newcastle could lose all that plod, and still have a worse team than 2015.

With Gids going and everyone wanting Roberts punted, who kicks goals for the team in 2016?

Tyler Randall can kick goals and has the ability to play 5-6 spots in the team. Better suited in the halves, I would replace Roberts with Tyler fulltime. And he can tackle.
